    The Air Raid Shallow Cross Concept is one of the MOST popular - and deadliest - Air Raid passing concepts. But what do you do when the defense KNOWS you are going to run the Air Raid Shallow Cross concept?
    Do you NOT run the Air Raid Shallow Cross Concept?
    Heck No!
    You TAG the Air Raid Shallow Cross Concept. And that's what we talk about in today's video.
    In today's video I cover the Two Tags you need to use with the Air Raid Shallow Cross concept.

    Today on offensive breakdown, I break down NFL schemes that get covered by the likes of QB School and Brett Kollmann. That’s right, the spread offensive breakdown is seen in NFL offenses and are covered by the QB School and Brett Kollmann
    Not NFL Offense, But brett kollmann breaks down NFL game film and offensives. This QB School like offensive breakdown goes deep into the NFL spread concepts and how high school football can use NFL style plays covered by brett kollmann and QB School

    Coach McKie, good stuff as always... in that cover 3 scenario, you ever try tagging a comeback (instead of curl). Hard route to cover and the corner probably used to getting run off if you've been using GO. Food for thought... easy 1st down vs. cover 3, I think

    Thank you coach! This could be my way out since I’m rebuilding our offense, while the offensive coordinator quit last season. And I’m in China where there are less than 2 K ppl playing this game, if that.

      You can also run the drive out of trips in the same direction as your dig route and instead of your R running a vert route have him run a delay under. Progression would be 5-0 to drive, 5-1 to the dig, 5-2 to delay under. The L would be on an alert on 3-1. Coach would call it trips drive L go or L pivot and change your alert based on defense. Whatever your terminology would be

    Coach, who is the QB reading on shallow cross? Progression is shallow-Dig-swing, correct?

    How does your F get across on a drive concept to the other side of the formation in a catch small small drop? We run a similar concept where we run it out of trips and have the F drive across the formation the why would be on the Dig route and your r or l would be on a delay under. the single receiver side into the boundary would run a call either go route or a called pivot route. That gives coach two vertical concept routes one which he can call as the alert based upon coverage. The drop goes 5 and 0 to drive, 5 and 1 to The Dig, 5 and 2 to the delay under. If he throws the alert into the boundary it is a quick 3-1 hitch and throw it up. I know that I coach to California and Division 1 so we see a lot of really fast defenses. But we don't really plan our drops on the defense we plan our drops timing of the offense. We're already starting at 4 and 1/2 yards deep. so Rhythm throws with your are faster short game are catch right left if he's a right-handed quarterback and catch left right if he's left-handed. So when we instruct the quarterbacks we emphasized catch small small that way they just know they're strong what is the one that they step with first so that they're pushing off after they plant. I can't see being able to read a drive or shallow cross coming all the way across the formation as the first in progression without built-in timing on a five-step drop. We have experimented trying to run that route concept first and progression on other drops and find that the quarterback is going to disregard that route because he's going to hitch to his second in progression because we don't want a QB buzzing in place waiting to see if the first route is going to be open. We want his eyes moving along with his resetting his profile using small hitches to the number two.

    Shallow vs Mesh ?
    Just starting out this year with the Air Raid Offense and and after doing a lot of “homework” I feel that the shallow looks to be a better play than mesh; although most Air Raid coaches love the mesh; thoughts?

      @CoachMcKie  Před 5 lety

      Gun to my head...I'd go with Shallow Cross right now. UNLESS you are willing to stick with Mesh throughout the ENTIRE year.

    Why not send both outside guys on skinny posts as a default?

    How do you protect? Do you still slide your line opposite first read and then have the back check frontside blitzes before releasing on shoot route?
