    My son turns 2 in august and he's been cruising on a strider bike since easter and doing great on that. I think this video sold us on getting him a Stacyc for his birthday.

    Excellent video, thanks for sharing with us. My 4 year old son has been on a Stacyc e16 drive for 1.5 years now. Before the pandemic, we were riding to school (we have junior kindergarten in Canada) 2 to 3 times a day and we live about a mile from the school. All of the older kids in 6th Grade were always stoked to see him arrive at school. He was already riding a pedal bike but I got him a Prevelo 16 inch MTB with disc brakes (fixed gear). The skills he picked up from his Stacyc have made him apply the same kind of balance on his MTB going down hill at our local ski hill. I’d like for him to and my youngest son who is about your son’s age here to eventually ride MX, the Stacyc really adds that next level set of skills. I’m about to get my youngest son the 12 inch Stacyc as I find the Strider first level balance bike is kind off in terms geometry. I would like to skip the Strider as my son has been on a Mountain Buggy unicycle that my wife pushes our son on advanced level single track flow trails I go with my older son. Excited for everyone who is embarking on this journey. Alternating bikes throughout the week during the lockdown has been my saving grace, and I get to ride my new Santa Cruz 5010 while my older son tries to beat me on the Stacyc e16:)

      You’re right on with that thought. Youngest son, 2 going on 3 in end of November is on the Stacyc e12 like your son here. Right now he’s doing a little bit of run biking, and throttles when I push him from the cross bars up and down technical terrain. Gets your heart rate up big time. I think within the 3 week exposure window, he’ll be riding similar to your son in the early stages. Awesome job by the way dad!

    • @TheBoyers

      Do it! I just got my 2 year old the 16, started him out with a balance bike once he started walking, now switched him to this, he kills it on the 16c plenty of spend for him to grow into, started him out on the red for a day and a half then he said he wanted to go faster so we put it on yellow and he did great!! I just felt like he has more control on the red so I turned it back down for him, the only downside of the bike I’d say is the battery life, he gets maybe 45 mins out of a full charge, definitely recommend investing in a second battery

    My toddler is getting the 12 in stacyc this week. But I need tips for full face helmets for his size. What would you reccomend?

    • @TheBoyers
      @TheBoyers  Před 3 lety

      HJC dirtbike helmet worked great for my older son (in this video) My other boy is smaller and the helmet was a bit too heavy. In that case I suggest finding a full face bmx helmet from your local bicycle store or can look online. They’ll be a little lighter.

  • @fredericgagne9252
    @fredericgagne9252 Před 2 lety

    Really cool, what is that helmet ? We tried to find one small for our 2 yo rider but they are all too large

    • @TheBoyers
      @TheBoyers  Před 2 lety

      This is the HJC dirtbike helmet. He was able to fit into the youth medium right at 2. I have another son and at 2 I got him the youth small that was slightly big and too heavy for him. Each kid is different and right fit and comfort is most important. If he doesn't fit into those ranges I'd start with a BMX helmet or the Strider makes a very light helmet.

  • @keikilanihussey1426
    @keikilanihussey1426 Před 2 lety

    Where did you get his helmet from? I’m trying to find a light weight one for my son who is 2 years old as well.

    • @TheBoyers
      @TheBoyers  Před 2 lety

      I have 2 kids 11 months apart. My son in this video the HJC worked perfect for him. Loved the price point and extra protection a full dirt bike helmet brings. My other kid is much smaller and it didn’t work as well for him. A little heavy. Strider makes a nice full face bicycle helmet and you can look into full face bmx helmet depending on your kid.

      @TheBoyers  Před 3 lety

      This is a youth HJC dirt bike helmet. Works perfect for him and still wears it a year later. You can find these at your local motorcycle dealership or online. My younger son is a bit smaller and the weight was a little heavy for him. I'd suggest a bmx style helmet you can get from your local bicycle shop depending on your child's size.

    How long does battery last in it does it come with 2

    • @TheBoyers
      @TheBoyers  Před 3 lety +1

      It only comes with one and a spare is around $160 bucks. I would say this is the one draw back. They last a little over 30 minutes on the full speed. We set up a 16E with a dewalt battery as I have plenty of those around just need to test it. He's not quite tall enough yet for that. While the battery is pricey when you add in no other mantainence cost maybe it justifies it, it still hurts spending that much for another battery.
