    Dunno if you already know this, but a couple of the states you can colonize in the pacific are only one tile big. So it doesn't matter that they have severe malaria, because the colonization is instant. Debatable whether those few extra pops are worth having to build ports for such small colonies, tho.

      None of the Pacific island states are only one tile. The smallest are Nauru, which is 2, and Kanak, which is 3.
      It's absolutely worth it to get them as someone in the British market, however, as it's one more place for immigrants to swarm to.

    You don't need to build a port. You're connected to the market via ports in mainland Australia, which you're connected to via strait.
    Emergency Relief and Promote National Values are basically pointless in your situation, so you might as well just keep the Authority to make your law enactment faster.
    Dedicated Police is also completely pointless for you at the beginning, you'd be better off going for one of the Colonial laws and hoping that you can get the Prestige outcome from Law Advancement so that you can get a Declared Interest and start setting up in Niger Delta, a single province of which has FAR more population than what you started with.

    • @TheBlueScreeners

    Intelligentsia opposing Universal Suffrage is a weird thing to happen. It happened because their leader has the Authoritarian ideology.
    It's a bit like how Corn Laws used to be a ridiculously overpowered mechanic because it gave the Landowners a Market Liberal leader. Easy path out of Traditionalism, straight to Liessez Faire.
    I also remember an annoying occasion as Japan where the leader of the Samurai had an ideology that aligned them with the Liberal Party, who were the ruling party. Because I couldn't kick them out of government, it stalled the Meiji Restoration since you need to do that in order to do the 'Retire the Samurai' journal entry.

    thats some very conservative growth you are pulling off here. Whenever i play i usually look to be around -+0 or try to stay comfortably in the red.
    Depending on how effective your growth is you sometines can even go into debt without worriing at all as your economic output grows faster than your debt, thus you can run a deficit near indefinitely and pay the accumulated debt of the last decade off in a few months as soon as it feels like the right time to do so

    • @adamconner9302
      @adamconner9302 Před rokem +5

      This is true for great powers, but the further you are from being a great power the higher interest rates become. Running a deficit as anything less than a major power is going to see interest outpace growth and can over time stagnate/collapse your economy. As a GP though, take it to the limit lol.

      @adamconner9302 Před rokem +5

      @@andrefasching1332 The base value is 20%, which is more than enough to quickly crash an economy if not respected. GPs get a 50% reduction to this and MPs a 25% reduction. It gets progressively worse from there, going up to +100% interest for an unrecognized power.
      Of course the break points are different depending on the specific circumstances of a playthrough, but from my experience it's when you switch over to Laissez-Faire and get that extra 25% reduction that interest just becomes a number. At that point a GP will have about a 3-4% rate depending on tech and can absolutely sit at max debt and dramatically outpace the interest in GDP gains.

      Especially as GBs son, you can pretty comfortably go in the red and GB will take your debt once for an obligation, then you need to balance it somewhat better. I’m really curious about Australia’s upbringing. I love history, but I never looked into Australia. All I know is after the independence war with America Britain focused their colonial efforts on Australia and other colonies. Going as far as sending prisoners to help populate.

    • @BigBoiTurboslav
      @BigBoiTurboslav Před 10 měsíci +1

      There wasn't much of a colonial effort in Australia. Australia was a penal colony first and foremost. I think the British called it no man's land and just left the land up for grabs.

    • @carlosfuentes9506
      @carlosfuentes9506 Před rokem

      If you try Cuba, here are some tips. Low population is one of the biggest problems. Stay as Spain’s puppet as long as you can for those migrants (~1865 works). Setting up a colony in Africa can get you sulfur, but that convoy route is difficult to defend during war. If you develop too quickly, you’ll have a lot of investment waste, run out of pops, and potentially go bankrupt. Don’t go for charity hospitals at the start; research public healthcare.

      @@rj4416 Earliest I broke away was 1856ish. But I found that was too soon when I ran out of pops. 1865 to 1870 worked best for me. You only need to defend against the naval invasions to break away, which is very doable with 15 army units and a decent general, even if Spain is allied with a Great Power (although in that case you’ll need a 10 unit navy so you don’t get naval invaded by both at the same time). I usually annex Puerto Rico from Spain in the same war.
