Another beautiful video. It brought back a flood of memories visiting the Falls as a child. I still remember the sights, sounds and smells. Dottie and I visited there the first year we were married. It has changed quite a bit in the last 44 years. Y'all made the right decision camping at the Lower Falls and bicycling up to the Upper Falls. There is a train and boat ride down the Tahquamenon River (Tahquamenon Train and Riverboat Tours). It stops just above the upper Falls and you hike 5/8 of a mile down to the Falls on the other side of the river. When we get up there next year, I would like to take the trip but, then again the Dottie and boats thing.... Glad y'all had the opportunity to see this beautiful place. Great videos! We were about 3 days behind you guys. We stayed at the Rivermouth Modern Campground. We loved Tahquamenon Falls State Park and surrounding area. Thanks for the video.
@@OverTheHillAdventures It was good. I'm not sure why it is called modern (we saw that used on several Michigan campgrounds). It is a lot like the other campgrounds at Tahquamenon. The day we arrived they were having a wilderness canoe race which was a surprise and treat. Those guys and gals were extreme atheletes. The campground was also close to Paradise and the Shipwreck Museum which was well worth it. We also visited most of the light houses in the area including Crisp Point and Point Iriquois. Our UP trip was great. We got to spend about 4 weeks. We feel blessed to be able to travel to such great places. Merry Christmas!

I can easily see why the campground was full - its really pretty! But cold showers? Yikes not my thing... We tend to use ours in the trailer more just because we don't like to roll the dice with that.. (not to mention we are typically out in the boondocks where there are no showers). You guys have done such a great job showing us the campgrounds and things to do in that area as well as travel tips - we look so forward to visiting maybe next year, and this series is going to be a great reference! love that trail you guys were on - and those falls ! so pretty. Tahquamenon river mouth is s beautiful park..we avoid the state parks and primarily go to state forest campgrounds..no hook ups at all ,no bath house, just out houses, but hardly any people
@@shellyR7151 that’s a good tip. We have no problem staying at places with no hook ups. We actually prefer it. That is the way it is in most National Parks. As long as we can fit we are good to go!

If one has 8 days to camp and see the UP, do you have a recommendation for the two places you would pick to stay that would allow us to see the best places and be able to take in the most? We don’t mind driving an hour or so out to see/do things each day.
Hi Connie! Great question! Stan and I have been sitting here talking about it for the past 15 minutes, lol. Our question back to you is, are you wanting to see Mackinac Island? If so, we would suggest staying in Mackinaw City (we stayed at Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground) and from there you can take the ferry to the island, travel up to the Soo Locks in Saulte Ste. Marie (1:10 minutes away), and enjoy Mackinaw City. We also were told Saint Ignace which is just on the other side of the Mackinac Bridge in the UP is a fun historic town. Unfortunately, we didn't make a stop this trip. The second place we would pick would be Munising, which from Mackinaw City is just shy of 2 hours away. From there you can go to Tahquamenon Falls (about 1 1/2 hours away), Kitch iti kipi Springs ( less than 1 hour away), and of course take a cruise to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There are lots of waterfalls to tour around town to see or hike to as well and don't forget to stop at Muldoons to get a Pasty :) We also absolutely loved the Porcupine Mountains and Copper Harbor although they would be quite a trek from Munising for a day trip. You could always substitute one of these for one of the above although they are destinations where you would just enjoy that area. We hope this helps! Question on the Mackinac island video. You stated that you can only bring a class 1 E-bike on the island. How do they check? I just purchased a Class 2 but I heard I can disable the throttle. I used to live in the U.P. and may go up there this summer.

South Dakota is beautiful. We did the UP this fall and really enjoyed it. However we return to South Dakota each year.
