    You should be using a 400A fuse for a Renogy 3000w inverter...that's whats on mine.....that's what they recommend. The rest of what you have done is perfect.

      Yeah, pretty sure I only put a 250 because it was only 70mm2....70mm2 rated to 250amps I think, yeah 400 would be good, I don't really use it for big loads....thanks for the comment

      Well done....makes things alot easier....i have a ebay 135ah in my ute...been in there for 3 years no worries at all....yeah lithium is the way to go...now I can take my generator out of the tool box...less weight...thanks for the sub..

    Gday muddy. Neat install.❤
    Have you adjusted your Inverter setup/RCD since you made the video?
    Watching vandercampadventures on CZcams a switch contactor is needed for N-E bonding when 240v output supplied from inverter (not on hook up) only then will the RCD function on AC output and protect you. Part of the new regs from Nov 23 apparently. I think the AU regs are similar to the UK with talking to a local sparky.
    The renogy units already have an automatic change over switch inside the unit..

      I'll look into it...I have the inverter wired to the change over switch ,which keeps the neturals separated...same earth link though....but ill double check thanks for the info

    Very neat install and for 3000 watt inverter, going to higher amp hour lithium is the way to go. Just a comment on your fuse sizing. 12 volts x 200 amps= 2400 watts . So with your fuse you will limit the load the inverter can supply to roughly 2400 watts. You may have done this on purpose until you get lithium with higher discharge rates. All the best with your electrical upgrade.

      @muddyandsandy  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for your comment..you are correct with the amperage ,I wasn't sure which one to get,as the cable can handle 250 but the max discharge I can get out of the 300ah lithium battery I'm buying is 200amps... so i just thought of what appliances I will actually use and they are all under 2400watts.

    A very informative video thank you. When is the next episodes coming please? I am looking to do this over the winter period and interested in the gear you install and how you connect into the existing system. We have a 12 month old van but no wiring diagram. I requested from the dealer but apparently it depends on the electrician/company installing the electrics to your van as they can all be wired differently. I don't believe that.
    Also sorry my son uses this account for games and hence the name. Cheers Karl

    Is 200A fuse enough for a 3000w inverter? What would you recommend for a 2500w inverter?

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  Před 2 měsíci

      I wanted the fuse to blow before cable gets hot.....2500w÷13v=192amps.....up to you, as long as fuse size is smaller than cable capacity...

    Automatic circuit breaker should be on positive cable and manual breaker allways on negative cable.

    Like your video. Looking at doing the same Renogy 300W inverter. A couple of questions please; 1 What size cable did you use? 2. is the battery isolator and the circuit breaker needed - could you just manually trip the circuit breaker to isolate 3. You used a 200amp breaker. Renogy suggests 400amp for the 3000W model. Any specific reason. Thank again

      70mm cable - sorry I was too quick

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  Před 8 měsíci

      Hey mate, yeah 70mm2 stranded...you could use just the isolator to manually turn it off...I prefer to use a resettable fuse....not sure why renogy recommends that size..it's way to much...fuse should be just smaller than cable capacity so it can trip before cable melts......3000watt inverter should do ....3000÷13volt=230amp...not sure how it could do 400amps...maybe start up current not sure......I also have installed a rcd straight after inverter..thanks for comment

    Hi Muddy, Do you need to attach an earth wire to the inverter? Trying to work it out and what size wire. Cheers

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  Před 7 měsíci

      Not to sure about that...the output earth on inverter is connected to earthing system in van....might have to research that one...probably find that frame is connected to internal earth which is connected to my van anyway..

    Why did you unnecessarily double isolate the positive cable? You could just isolate it with the test switch on the fuse

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  Před 4 měsíci

      Nothing wrong with adding a isolator...just like your house aircon has a isolator and circuit breaker.....isolator easy to use

    I am planning out my 3k inverter. All the info said I need a 400a breaker and 4/0 awg wire. Am I wrong ?

    • @muddyandsandy
      @muddyandsandy  Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah 4/0 awg would be good...so not much voltage drop....3000 watt inverter can only 230amps roughly...3000w÷13v=230 amp...400amp breaker doesn't sound right....breaker is designed to protect cable before it melts...so the breaker size needs to be similar capacity to cable capacity.......

    • @chrisistocool1
      @chrisistocool1 Před 3 měsíci

      The 4/0 cable has a 440 amp cap. Soni under shot the breaker to 400. My inverter info said it can rock all the way up to 375

    • @chrisistocool1
      @chrisistocool1 Před 3 měsíci

      I am running a 12v system. So I get slapped with high requirements. Pulled this off Google.
      The current draw will depend on the battery voltage. If the inverter is connected to a 12V battery bank, it can draw up to 350 amps, while if connected to a 24V battery bank, it can draw up to 175 amps
