  • I tear apart a sawzall to fix a blade release and also to clean the whole thing and remove the old grease and apply new grease. I am doing this because the guy who had this before me did not take very good care of it and let it get this bad.

    Here's a sawzall tip I learned a long time ago.
    If ur cutting sheetrock or pipe with water in it... coat some grease on the blade shaft... put it on there. This won't happen ever again!

      pointedspider where’s the blade shaft in the sawzall? Is this once it’s open or you can apply grease without opening

    And, you earned your very first subscriber with me. I hope your channel takes off bud! I've been at it since 2007 and I've refined my video taking technique, although it's still generic, I get the information out there, which is what's most important. Cheers!! Zip~

    FYI, Even if you aren't the original owner, Milwaukee still fixes it under warranty if the 5 years hasn't lapsed. They use the date code to determine the age if no proof of purchase is included. I know this because I did the same thing, bought one used on Craigslist that had a loose battery connection for $80, then i sent it in and they replaced it no charge. But hey, you wouldn't have learned all that if you just had them do it for you so, good job.

      I have a couple different phone mounts that I use with my various tripods and mounts so I can use both hands when taping. Also, you can get a bluetooth remote that you can tether to your phone to start and stop your recording without needing to touch your phone. Just passing along a couple tricks I use in my video production. Smart phones these days shoot awesome video. Heck, the new iPhone shoots video in 4K! Happy shooting! Zip~

      I just bought the new one and its gears make a rough sound at low rpm. I might open mine up and put more grease in. Or do I just need to run it with load until the grease heats up and spreads?

      Try spraying WD40 into the switch unit, leave to dry for a couple of hours.

    Nice one mate, found one of these at the dump yesterday in amazing physical condition. Just doesn't go. Not even the LED. But the connection at the battery gets really hot when connected. Do you think the handle plastic part will come apart without needing to pull the rubber boot of etc? Looks like it will. Will probably do a video on a hopeful fix myself. Thanks for the info bud.

    Yesterday I repaired the same saw (M18 FSX) that I bought for $1. The machine was dead and the diode did not light up when I connected the battery. I didn't believe that the light emitting diode had anything to do with the operation of the machine? The red wire from the LED was broken, and the white one had damaged insulation. I fixed the problem and the saw works like new. Maybe someone else has similar malfunction symptoms and maybe my experience will help someone?

    or the torque output of the blade

  • @0778drz110
    @0778drz110 Před 5 lety +2

    It's a shitty design. I don't use mine a lot, but when I do it's usually to cut drywall. Cutting overhead the dust goes right inside that cavity and doesn't come out even with compressed air. The blade release broke again for the second time today. I don't even think it's been a year since had to send it in last time and I'm wondering if I can get rid of the plastic collar and weld a small handle to the part that holds the blade. The metal nut blade release that milwaukee and other brands have used for years works just fine I don't know why they decided more plastic was a good idea.

    What is the exact name of grease that you put on gears of the tool?
    Is Mobil 1 synthetic grease ok for this?

      Restoration companies- I've been working for a water and fore restoration company for a few years now. When there is water damage to drywall, the easiest and quickest way to remove drywall is with a reciprocating saw.
