If the WNBA could create some villains like LeBron or are in football like Tom Brady or the Cowboys, etc, the WNBA could grow some. It won’t ever be bigger than the NBA, but it can definitely be better than it is now. I think it’ll be hard to create villains in the WNBA because that means sports analyst would now have to constantly pick apart a female athlete’s game on why they’re not the goat or one of the greatest. I don’t think the current media is ready to have too much negative connotation on a woman athlete, even if it’s in a positive light, trying to discuss who the best is. It can only be uplifting. People had some good & bad things to say about Simone Biles last Olympics, and people freaked out when anyone would say something negative about Simone…”how could you! What do you know!”. I say go for it WNBA. When it comes to the good, the bad, and the ugly: the WNBA is already in a really bad spot so this will at least increase “the good”, but it’ll also increase the “ugly”; gotta be ready for the ugly apart i.e. KD is sensitive, or Lebron flops aka LeBum, Barkley doesn’t have a ring, Jovic don’t have a ring; they’re trash. To grow in the media and in consumers’ eyes you need a balance of the good, the bad and the ugly. They need to market Britney Griener more; even it causes people to hate her more. I only watch the Lakers games, Cowboys games, and Yankee games in hopes they’ll lose. Rating are ratings. Even I don’t have a WNBA team to root for, a casual fan could have a WNBA team they only watch to route against, which is still better than nothing.
I hope she keeps this hype going for women's hoops man.
