  • The Wasatch Ultimate Ridge Linkup (WURL) is a litmus test for trail-runners in the summer, but has never been done in the winter. A 58km continuous ridgeline visible from downtown Salt Lake City, UT, it forms a horseshoe around Little Cottonwood Canyon and the ski areas of Alta and Snowbird. After attempting the marathon in the summer, Mali Noyes and Lani Bruntz set out to ski and explore some of the Wasatch's most iconic peaks and complete a continuous traverse of the WURL in the winter.

But in reality, it is just two people skiing in the mountains around WURL on aesthetic lines touring 9 miles a day.... I don't get the whole hype and trying to make this more than it actually is. Any of us who know how to use an Ice axe and a rope could have taken it to the next level with ease. Great video but let's keep it real and sell it as is....

      @tomaskazokas8123 Před 3 lety

      @@SalomonTV The adventure is great I agree I don't deny it, also for sure a lot of training is required to accomplish it. But this is not the WURL. Doing the WURL means staying true to the ridge and this is skiing some peaks which make up the WURL. Its in the name: Ridge Link up, if you are not staying on the ridge and keep dropping down each time a rock/ice climb technical section comes up, then it is not ridge link up. Maybe ridge fragments... WURF. The idea of exposure is there because most of us ultra athletes know what it takes to do the WURL in the summer. I have not seen the athletes on any sickening drops over cliffs in this video. I could see only in the background where the real challenges of the WURL lie. Idk why claim something that was not accomplished or try to create an illusion of such accomplishment.
