Sabaton - Race to the Sea (orchestral version; instrumental; epic / classical music)

  • Today's song will be opposite of the previous one.
    It will be about event called the "race", which unfortunately had nothing to do with sports and fair competition.
    "Race to the sea" happened during First World War, as a result of both sides trying to prepare for offensive, attacking flank of their opponent. To have starting positions for the attack, they dug trenches, to prepare soldiers and supplies there. The opposing side did the same, to prevent being attacked from flank. So, new, longer trenches had to be dug, to flank the new position of the enemy.
    And that's how the vicious circle continued, both sides trying to outrun each other. Literally they went to the sea, as the trenches were even dug at the beaches of North Sea in Belgium.
    The nightmarish trench war on the western front was beginning...
