    st paticks day first started by ulster-scots presbyterian/protestant in boston in 1737 by the irish charitable society which followed the earlier scottish charitable society formed in 1657. the ulster-scots would have their meetings then afterwards would walk to the local tavern. in time they adopted the british military fifes and drums. the new york one started some 25 years later. they also walked to the local tavern after their meetings......the crown and thistle. then the later catholic irish were alloed to join in the 1800s. then they dropped the british fifes and drums and adopted the scottish military pipeband style..

    Nice to see the chevrons on the piper's sleeve pointing downward which is the correct traditional way to wear them. I'm not sure why the rest of America's armed forces inverts them.

    • @Dischingo
      @Dischingo Před 3 měsíci

      I think it was copied from the French who wear them in a similar fashion. The United States military more specifically the land forces were based heavily on the French system from the Napoleonic wars up until the Franco-Prussian war.

      @eileenhartmaher544.......kilts and bagpipes adopted from scotland alang with fiddle reel music/tunes.ceilidths/ceilidth music/stepdance and more from scotland. irish nationalists in the late 1800s wanted to distance themselves from their anglo-norman roots, so, whose culture better to adopt...the scots..
