Founder of ShopBot Tools, Ted Hall, along with the company's executive team, made the decision to convert ShopBot to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in 2021.
In association with both the North Carolina Employee Ownership Center (NCEOC) and Employee Ownership Expansion Network (EOX), we produced this video about the experience and the choice to go with the EOT model.

I wish the Shopbot family great success with the EOT. I wanted to do an EOT with a small company I worked for and the owner wouldn’t consider it for reasons I’ll never understand. He sold to a private equity group that closed the plant and had all the products made in Asia. It impacted about 80 families plus the local community. How’d the company do after the sale? Quality dropped and sales followed.
