This is the clearest and most succinct explanation of the rules and setup I've seen. Great video.
I love how I searched for this and wanted a quick and concise video. Many were well over ten minutes. And after watching this, it's clear they have too much fluff. Well done.
I'm not sure how I've just discovered your channel, but this was such a great concise teach. You just gained another sub!
Goodness gracious this is an amazingly efficient and professionally executed video. Well done, Rules Girl.
I bought 7 Wonders Duel for iPad, but I only really understood the rules after reading a PDF of the rules for the real board game... much easier to understand than the in-game tutorial (which doesn't even allow you to go back, so if you tap the screen by accident, you have a problem). The original instruction also comes with additional examples which makes it even easier to understand the rules.
"The goal of the game is to win" - it's like that in a lot of games
I personally felt that
Notably, the goal is not always to win
For example, in Twister the goal is to not pull a groin
@@pasta0328 A strange game. The only winning move is not to play

YES. I needed this. I love your breakdown of 7 Wonders Duel.
Perfect video! Exactly what I was looking for!
So when you pick an age card, you can actually just hold the card, you don't have to use it to construct a building, trade it in for coins, or build a wonder, is that correct?
Nice breakdown of the gameplay!
Favourite part of the video:
"The goal of the game is to win."
How do I buy a building that is not valued in coins e.g. It costs 1 Wood resource to buy.
It'll cost 2 coins per icon
Great video! Thanks! Is it possible to have also the regular 7 wonders video one day? Thank you
It's on the list eventually. Card games in particular are relatively easy for us to do, since we can recycle a lot of animations between videos. Plus, it's a great game and will pair well with this video!
1. Trade supply card for 2 coin plus 2 for any yellow in your city
2. Cost of resource is 2 + 1 for ea the opponent produces
3. Weakest military goes first
4. Use supply to construct wonder
5. Ea 3 coins = 1 vp
6. Place 3 guild cards in age 3
7. Ea player is a city
Wow, excellent video. I'm going to print the link into my copy of the rule book!!
Very nice summary. Thank you! What software did you use to create all the animations?
Hi there Marco. We primarily use Adobe Creative Cloud, so Audition for audio recording/mixing and Premiere for video editing. To make the animations, we use Keynote for the simple stuff, and After Effects for more complicated effects.
What a great video. Glad I discovered this channel. The recommendations at the end are a really nice touch. Great job!
I wish you were the devs of 7 Wonders Duel App. The Repos app looks so barebone... For sure you'd have done a better job
Do you have a list of upcoming videos you plan on producing or are you open to suggestions/requests? :) really love your series!
Both! We've got a list, but we also keep a big tally sheet of every request we've seen on comments or emails. So happy to take requests.
Sweet! Thanks for your time. This was a great explanation \o/
i love the "The goal of the game is to win" yeah no shit haha
I finally picked this up. Great explanation. Thanks.
Fantastic, clear, concise break down of the game and it's rules. Well done. BZ.
Great job of explaining the game! Unless I lose this coming game...I blame the rules girl! :)
Awesome video.
Just bought this for my dad and I for the Holidays. Cheers hope it's not too difficult :D
Thanks for the explanation!
Great vid. Very clear thanks+
Best explanation ever
Very good thank you!
Best video tutorial I found! Reduced to the essential important rules. Grrrreat! Thanks!
The goal of the game is to win.
The goal of the game is to avoid losing.
This was really easy to understand.
Thank you!
Love your voice :)
When you build something through linking does that count as your turn? Or can you build another building after?
still counts
Very nice video! Subbed!
Excellent summary!
Great vid!
great vid and animation, thanks
Would be perfect if you guys made a regular 7 wonders "how to play" video. My wife finds your videos very easy to follow and she is not a gamer.
Stay tuned! :)
Awesome helpful vid
No entendi ni pico
This video was confusing and presumes you have played the base game I guess? Because I couldn't follow. I rewatched and rewatched and just ended up more confused
Sounds convoluted AF
Love you voice!
Maybe we are too dumb, we packed the game away halfway through the video
Agree completely. Just didn't vibe. Like a more obfuscated Splendor.
Rules girl, rulezzz :D , and btw i am the 10,000th viewer of this video :)
"the goal of the game is to win"
Damn this breakdown is impressive.
Love your videos, but can I offer up some constructive criticism? You can probably drop the line "the goal of the game is to win". The goal of *most* games is to win, so it really doesn't need to be said. Anyhow, just my two cents. Keep up the great work!
Hee hee, we see it as serving two purposes:
1) A goofy little catchphrase to make us a little more memorable.
2) A reminder of our core teaching philosophy: Start with a high-level summary and work your way down. And there's nothing more universally high-level than "the goal of the game is to win".
The Rules Girl LOL, that's cool. like I say, just my two cents. Love the videos. super helpful
Josef Ferguson I disagree. I like this a lot and it makes sense given their top-down philosophy.
My point was that, from a purely informative viewpoint, the line doesn't add anything to the description, since the point of *every* game is to win. Take Pandemic for example. You could say "the point of the game is to find the cures for all four diseases before time runs out". Or you could say "the point of the game is to win. you win by finding the cures for all four diseases before time runs out". For informative purposes, the second description doesn't add anything that the first example doesn't already accomplish more efficiently. Since the whole focus of her channel is "learn X in 4 minutes", my original comment is pertinent.
That having been said, Rules Girl has said that she sees it as a catchphrase (sort of like Rodney's "thanks for watching"), which is a different thing altogether.
I also disagree with Josef. It's like a 2 second phrase, what does it matter anyway...
I am completely lost...
Fatpie42 uh, do you have the initial set up in front of you, while you and your opponent watch the vid? I've had a lot of success that way. I read the rulebook during/after first play through.
you rule girl!
The goal of the game is to win....
7 Wonders Duel is very different from its big brother. It's a weird drafting game and really not that enjoyable. Duel is far superior imho.
The Rules girl!!!
No, you WON'T enjoy splendor, splendor sucks and is leagues behind 7W.
Don’t waste your time. This video does not explain everything clearly at all
Good intro tutorial (even though lack tons of depth); annoying voice...
Her voice is nice, shut up.
