- "One of the most consistently played songs in the Dead's repertoire 1966-1995, Cold Rain and Snow was quite commonly a show-opener, but also appeared in various places throughout first sets, and occasionally second sets. This one, from the magnificent Buffalo 89 show, was the third song of the first set, on a hot, humid, and later rainy night in Western New York." - David Lemieux

Love it! Keep em coming...and Thank You!!!! If by change you are taking requests I would love to see something from Vegas 1991 or even 1995, or Sandstone (Bonner Springs, KS) 1990 or 1991!!
7/25/21 I'm back ,

for my
Grateful Dead's
COLD RAIN AND SNOW
fix ... Aaahhh ...
Depends if he's otherwise the one of us east coasters you'll see on Xmas en their khakis
that opening riff is one of my all time favorites, you can name this song in three notes from that intro.
I ❤you Jerry thing addm gracia addam
Summer of 89 was the start of an unreal run of great shows from the boys
Jerry in full command with the boys playing like a well oiled machine
at the end when he is looking at micky and bill like guys watch me..... then hits a nice lick
Aint that the truth, love that look over he gives ocasionally like "come on guys catch me"....

Brent was, is, and always WILL BE the most underrated member of the Dead!!! The chemistry with Jerry is undeniable! Watch "Women Are Smarter" from this concert. What a beautiful human being, taken way too soon 😢 Hard to believe that a year and a couple of weeks later he would be gone. R.I.P. Brent
So right my friend he was the greatest
Underrated by whom? You?
How is Brent underrated? He's like the most recognized dead keyboardist out of all of them.
:) Jerry looks like he's having a good time. And Phil's bass sounds great! Long live the best band in history! Much love!
Phil is obviously happening....garcia is staring at him alot....when they take the middle solo around for the 2nd turn garcia meets Phil's energy and its what it's all about
GOD BLESS THE GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!!!!!!!! MELTING AWAY THE SNOW TODAY
Look at uncle Jerry bear. Havin a good ole time playing some good ole tunes!
Met Jerry in 87 ..after a show we went to their hotel ..the elevator door opened and there he was ..couldn’t have been cooler ..signed our ticket stubs..then he was off the the bar!
My dad was here!
For me seeing Jerry decline from the mid 70's to the mid 80's due to drugs, and then have a resurgence with '89 as the peak was and still is joyful to behold.
My grandfather Bob Matthews played this almost everyday of my childhood. Burned into my brain cells❤️
This is the best version of Cold Rain.
Great version but my favourite is Peter Rowan Tony Rice quartet version
I agree.
No
The 89 tour was a masterpiece 😊
It was big, big fun, thats for sure
I love this song…
Jerry’s in such good voice here
Yes and you can hear how he's been through it with women by this late period, he sings from experience.
The Grateful Dead are a part of my DNA, this performance of Cold Rain And Snow is one of the chromosomes.
Just want to close my eyes and go back in time ❤✌️
I played this so loud that the neighbors called the police. The neighbors got arrested.
Did they get thrown in jailhouse?
No. Cops made them listen to Green Day as punishment.
The cop must have been a deadhead...😊
Howard Black glad I could help. ✌🏻
Love this. Reminds me of the time a chick called the cops and said I raped her and they arrested the chick.
Jerry and the Dead top form 1987-1991. Jerry was a stud this period. Such a cool dude.
Absolutely he was great memories you’ll never forget
Coolest of the cool!!!
What are you talking about? Are you crazy?
1993 was last truly great year
Bobby's majestic locks in full effect.
And majestic shorts!!!
Today: May 17, 2021: I dedicate this tune to an event that happened 35 years ago today, that turned into a nightmare from hell in 2005 & 2006, with me being fairly free once again on May 10, 2007! The lyrics are quite appropriate, to say the least, and I did survive!
Jerry's solos on CR&S were always simple and structural but often, like this night, SO on the money... kind of in the Chuck Berry vein of chord-heavy soloing. I was there, about 20 back from Jerry, and it was an amazing show and an amazing version of this son.
1989 oh what a different world it was then. Wished I could have seen them more times. Tremendous show in Boulder Colorado.
Bet you didn't think it could get any worse. I didn't.
35 short years ago! Miss you Jer!!!
Easily my favorite performance of CR&S, hands down. Randomly found this concert while tripping like 10 years ago and been coming back to it over and over since.
La mejor versión de esta canción fría y lluviosa como esa noche. Jerry te echamos de menos.
Between the bipolar ex-wife and living in the snow belt by the Great Lakes I had to listen to this today. I'm so glad i got to see them play on the east coast during this time.
Erie pa here
3:51 a gem of a moment when the music lifts the shoes off the carpet.
Yes, I was at this show, best show ever
R.I.P. Jerry and Brent!
As long as Brent sticks to playing!
This is such a timely upload. I have had this song i my head for a week. It was playing in a dream I had and I’ve been singling it all week! One of my all-time faves!
So have I!
Best times of my life! Thanks Papa Bear! RIP. Anaheim,Ca. First show was 1989 LA coliseum.
77 and 89 top two years
Epic performance
Anything with Brent , is a killer upload .
Thank you for this one 💀✌
3:51 nice to see Jerry kicking up his heels!
Fuck yeah man!
I'm not sure, but I think Jerry actually got all the way to one foot completely up in the air. Love the man, miss him every single day!
Best vesion of this tune in my view
After all these years This music still makes 😊
"...and I ain't gonna be treated this old way."
Whoever dislikes this we still love you
I dont
Aint that simple brother man
True Grateful Dead attitude
Jerry looking & feeling good, the band on top of their game in '89. Wish I had been more on the bus then.
Doesn't matter when you 1st heard or saw a live show or a video. If you're there!
Loved Orchard Park! The cement stadium made for kind sound.
My first live song back in the day... and I was hooked!
THANK you for the outer glow 🌟 of reality
You can always tell how it’s going by the look on Jerry’s face during the groove.
Even Phil is singing!
Watching Garcia..u see a man who is feeling thr moment..he is exactly where he wants to be, who he wants to be with, doing what he mosts love and sharing it with the fans.
Right on, brother.
just magnificent..idk something about this particular gathering ✨🌠💫💥
The hair bobbles were out in force that day. 👌
An absolute masterpiece
Masterpiece was a Masterpiece 🥰
E and D are all you need!
Family❤
Awesome Show. The Parking Lot Scene was fulfilling. Later Jerry blew us away with Morning Dew.
Buffalo was a great party town!
Saw the Dead 3 days in a row at the Frost amphitheater at Stanford university WOW did we party ! I woke up in a park
This and Morning Dew my favorites from the first (Pigpen) album. Listening makes me feel like I'm going home.
Geni...😊
I was at that show.
I miss him
More than you know
My favorite version of this song..from one of my favorites shows.
All goosebumps!
My Birthday is complete🙏🏼⚡️💀😍
Out in the cooold raaain and snoooow
Unbefuckinlievable! Jerry in complete control.
Pierce Edens - Rain and Snow. I love it when the light bulb goes off! 🌟
Base great, Lesh filling.
So good, thanks for posting. The eerie truth of that fist line. The greatest mistake of my life ;). Thanks big jerry for providing some relief
Seen the Dead 💀 at Orchard Park 3x and War Memorial Aud 4x and at Watkins Glenn with the Band and Allman Brothers Summer Jam 73’ also
you are a grateful legend
About time... keep 'em coming....where are the rarities?
Chillsssssss ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Sure do miss the ol’GFD sure do miss ol’Jerry 😃 when I was 15 and went to the camp grounds for the first time back in 94 I was hooked to the scene and more importantly the music but unfortunately I never got to catch them before Jerry died but this music will live on forever as long as there’s ears to hear it
*Ramble on Rose 🌹*
thats a shame as one show would have done it. there was and is nothing like the grateful dead nor will there ever be again.
How any of you remembers exactly how old you were when you 1st heard any particular tune amazes me. I couldn't tell you for sure about any of them since 1971 on.
@@patriciamays8244 I was born in 1976 & the first song I remember is Touch of Gray on MTV.
I remember this show...security wasn't allowing anyone to bring in water bottles...so I tied an empty gallon jug to my headband and walked right in...I had a jug of water in no time and made a bunch of new friends on the floor..Phil side" in no time...great show...great memories.
From the first note the Grateful Dead make the full audience jell as one; I’m right there with them thanks to this channel; the sound and camerawork are spectacular; why did everybody give their absolute best for this band? Simple, like us now, they all loved the Grateful Dead.
Thanks
Thank you, whoever put this back up here!!
Was at the Grateful Dead concert 35 years ago today. 34 years ago, was In my first of 3 drug rehabs. Now alone at the last place my mom an I were. What a long strange trip it has been.
Was there. Yeeeeehaaaawwww
Even the Casual Observer knowing nothing about the Grateful Dead and the music and the culture would look at this and say they look like they're having so much fun and they're so good at it and everyone in the audience is enjoying it so much it's got to be pretty good. 17 show veteran have all of them live on CD along with another $250 or so
Awesome sauce
Awesome, love this song!
My first show. It was excellent all the way around.
I keep coming back to this one lately .
❄🌧+🌨❄
I like people who like music. 😊
So good!!!
Phil dropping that bass like a bomb. Wow.
Love the 89 shows tops!!
Orchard Park the rainiest coldest snowiest miserable place on earth
Go spend some time in Moose Factory
@@haggismacphreedom8270 no thank you
Angus Young in the Dead....great!
Imagine Let There Be Rock on that Casio axe..
Thank you!
Bravo!!!
I was there I. Think this is the best show I am going to bur. F. Low. In drian. 87
I was at this show. Didn't get to many so I don't get to say that very often.
Run me out in the cold rain and snow
And I love how Garcia's guitar growls!
Cold rain and snow played perfectly 🌹💀🌹
Stupendous!!!
Phil-you should acknowledge your indebtedness to James Jamerson- beautiful. He truly is under-appreciated. Cover bands usually dont get the Phil concept of consistently cleaver counterpoint. This was such a great period for the boys-we are richer for it.
Great song a Dead classic.
Love everything about this! Jerry kicking up his heals!
Thank you-needed this.
