  • This Video shows you how to complete the dead testing sequence. It will guide you though testing a lighting circuit and a ring final test.
    C - continuity of CPC
    R - Ring Final
    I - Insulation resistance
    P - Polarity Dead
    P - Polarity Live

So many oversights on this video. 1 - No Lock off , 2 No supply voltage check with test lamps confirmed working with proving unit. 3 You disconnect main protective conductors to copper pipe work so has not to pick up false readings on R1 + R2 tests via parellel paths. 4 To get a correct R1 + R2 result on the ring main you divide the reading by 4. 5 When doing an R1+R2 test on lighting take a reading from all fittings + switches and record the highest !

Very helpful, thank you. Just what I needed as a quick refresh before my exam tomorrow.

Surely you check at every point on R1 + R2 test and switch the light switch on and off to prove polarity

How did u get those results, the first three tests the main switch was on except for the last one, doing my practical, at college and just noticed it

Could you do live tests never heard of “CRIPPER” but best video I’ve seen for my am2 not complicated just straight to the point cheers

Hi mate great video but could you please do one more in depth, demonstrating how youre setting up your megger for each test and explain the purpose of each test phase of cripper. Thanks again.

  • @9T9times
    @9T9times Před 6 lety +4

Would be great if you'd show the actual meter settings and the readings you get.
What you appear to be doing here is just enacting the CRIPPER testing sequence without actually showing much.
Sorry if I sound negative, but thanks for the vid. ;)

For the first test (continuity of cps) do you place ALL cpc's in the connector block? including ring etc?

    • @caincawkwell8092

Remove bonding, everything else can be used via croc. Clips onto earth terminals on DB

1st test is. continuity of protective conductor (disconnect cpc from met)
2nd test is. continuity of main and supplementary bonding conductors (disconnect cpc from met)
3rd test is. continuity of final rind circuits (no need to disconnect the cpc from the met)

Point 2) is wrong testing supplementary bonding , the conductors remain connected at the MET or earth bar .also he should of used a crock clip on one of the test leads and clipped onto the earth conductor to insure a good connection and a good reading

Nothing like an instructor giving a demonstration with his back to you and you can't see what he is doing, maybe I could do a corce at his college and I could then a job and no one would be any the wiser weather or not I have done it properly

  • @pblazi

This video is a joke. Should've nulled his leads before he started, should've done a safe isolantion before doing anything. He is removing live and cpc conductors while MCB and main isolator is ON and LIVE. Didn't flick the light switch ON and OFF as he was doing his r1r2 at the light circuit. Used a bloody painters ladder. Didn't null the crock clips before doing end to end on ring. IR at 500V he tested between the Live and the entire Netral bar instead of removing the Neutral from the circuit in question, while still having a bulk head with a light still on above the dis board. Don't do what this guy is doing under exam condition. You're bound to fail.
