- This is Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra and Choir's dedication to brave Ukrainian people who suffer under the brutal Russian invasion. Our musicians performed this beautiful love song a couple of years ago. Tine Bec did an amazing arrangement. It was composed by Mykola Leontovych: Shchedryk (Carol the Bells) with a splendid arrangement, made by composer Slovenian Tine Bec.
This arrangement is magical. It starts like deep sad mourning and continues to strengthen, unitarian voice, which is stronger than any steel, any armoury and any Russian bullet, rocket or trank grande. Music is a winner. It gives hope, unites us in a way, that no aggression will ever win.

Beautiful and well performed. I do not know the language but, of course, recognize the same musical chords of "Carol of the Bells." In my own way, let me add to the spirit of these wonderful young performers by quoting the eloquent poet John Donne who said, "Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee." So it is that the brutal attack on Ukraine is also an attack on all people who seek and love peace. Now is the time to oppose evil and stand up. For as another wise person said, All evil needs to succeed is for good people to do nothing." In this we pray and decisively seek God's Provident strength to act fully in the Spirit of Faith Hope and Love. (Psalm. 31:14-15a)

Most people do not realize that the Carol of the Bells was written by a Ukrainian composer. We Ukrainians always knew.
@@chrisdemnianyk4357 I'm glad to see this clarified. I played it in my youth orchestra with that fact properly annotated, but I forgot it as if the old USSR was one big "blob" on a map. A poor sense of geography (& history). The criminal invasion today is seen clearly well after the forgotten seizure of Crimea. May God sustain all Ukraine in this hour of greatest need. May those bells ring out hope and victory for a proper peace.
