      For good reason, it has naturally learned how to move it's arms to counteract momentum, just like we intuitively learn to from falling frequently. It's not a preprogrammed movement but one that will react uniquely to each situation. Machine learning has become quite impressive, though it's still not true artificial human intelligence.

    • @nabbikill
      @nabbikill Před rokem

      @@invertexyz it's def not machine learning. You need a lot of data to train an ML model, which kind of data do you have for balancing your center of mass? You can also program a search AI (A* probably) to accomplish the same task.

    • @invertexyz
      @invertexyz Před rokem +2

      @@nabbikill It is machine learning, this has been a decades long training program... They started with much simpler robots to make it easier to train basic balancing and then slowly increased complexity of the system and interactions. This isn't an "artificial intelligence" any more than Tesla Autopilot is. ML isn't only trained by just feeding it a ton of data once, it can be an iterative process and indeed was actually the first path we took for training these things until someone decided to use it for things like art theft.
      Also it's laughable to think you could use A* for this. As someone who has programmed A* systems, I don't think you understand how they actually work and how limited they are. A shortest path calculation has little to do with the mechanics involved here. You need a system that intuitively understands how to react under a multitude of rapidly changing variables, these reactions need to be generative, unique to every different precision difference in values. This is what ML shines at by having a weighted probability network.
      Also this is mostly about semantics too, I don't consider something "AI" unless it can actually pass the Turing test and grow on its own without human intervention.

With technology for advanced motion tracking, most recently LiDAR, we have vast capabilities of recording human movements in situ and, afterwards, analyze the gathered data with the help of computational processes. We then can build upon the learnt and gathered concepts to re-purpose them for use in robotics. Hella fascinating.

      um... we're not gods. we're only human. it's both our crime & our punishment as well. (my best friend. RIP...). in many years what kind of gods do want to be for AIs? Kind And Compassionate gods for AIs is what i want to be. i wasn't too into the one that only wants to be worshipped. if that's all He wants He doesn't deserve it. He did a shoddy job in making people as it is. Faith in man is fading. Google employees are bringing my faith in mankind back by disconnecting strange URLs.

      @@eyescreamcake im speculating but they probably use motion capture of humans and then turn that into code for the robot to imitate and tweak it until it works it is not trained in any way though it is all preprogramed movements that it decides to use based on sensor input

      Most of their robots developed their movements through machine learning (trial and error and ai algorithms predicting the best strategy to overcome and learn.) so most of their robots movements look natural and familiar because they learn and developed movement in a similar way natural creatures do.
