It's crazy cool to me that MIDI was made exactly 40 years ago and it stood the trial of time to this day. Dave Smith and Sequential had a huge impact on the modern music industry and I think many people don't realize, as they're not nearly as big as Korg or Yamaha. By the way you said MIDI was invented by Dave Smith Instruments - they were actually called Sequential back then and DSI is the name they had to take for the recent couple of years after they decided to reactivate their brand and they eventually reclaimed the rights to use the original name - Sequential. They were the first that allowed musical instruments to talk to each other in a modern way. They also revolutionized synthesizers, connecting the analog with digital and taking the best out of each domain. Dave passed away a year ago. Rest in peace Dave :(

oh snap. ive have formally surpassed previous incarnations of geekdom, and have entered the midi twilight zone. i actually understood exactly how you chain everything, and even what equipment you are using. i dig the euro synths! im using all native instrument gear, with a couple token pieces of akai pro audio. to be fair and honest, i did learn to program general midi c back in the middle 90s when i was working as an Apple Multimedia developer. Ill also say that todays midi gear is so far beyond what we began with back in the day. general midi was , to paraphrase einstein, spooky from a distance, and we referred to the phenomena as voodoo, as we also used the term scsi voodoo. sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt, hence the name voodoo, and scsi voodoo. crap. i just dated my self. im old as dirt apparently, but kickin out some decent progressive trance, and post industrial groove porn, with a new album scheduled for release towards the end of the year. you my young friend, upon seeing what youre working with, appear to have a bright future, indeed. cheers.

Loving your new studio setup, especially the volcas and POs box+mixer arrangement. My humble arrangement is sounding worse the more complex I make it. Got problems with mix and individual audio levels (cheap and nasty mixer is probably the culprit) and now I have midi problems. Was using a midi merger box (up to 4in/4out) which is usb powered but it doesn't work properly now. Reverted to simple midi split cables and now I can't have one of my keyboards in it ...ARRGGHH! Think I need to do (yet another : ( } RESET on the whole system. The volca mixer for just the volcas and POs has given me an idea...Thank you ; )
