  • As catastrophic as the Coronavirus as been, there are some silver linings here and there. Aside from reduced pollution and car accidents, it may offer an opportunity to make some much needed (and politically difficult) changes to tourism policy which will help manage overtourism. This video explains why and how to go about it...at least for day visitors (tour bus and cruise passengers). Limiting independent tourists in a smart way is saved for next week.

Once-in-a-lifetime chance during this shutdown to address these critical issues. Hope the cruise lines and travel industry apply your advice now while there is time. Thanks Doug!

Hope the cruise lines take your advice - the cost to address it NOW will never be cheaper and the ROI will be huge.

Cruise lines and Ports may feel this is harsh because they're invested in ships and terminals, but it's like the automobile industry... they tried to push back against electric cars when it would have been far smarter business to embrace it. And now they're trying to play catch up.

Fantastic video! It really made me take a long, hard look at how I travel! Australia has closed off to all but essential travel IN and OUT, so all travel is now domestic tourism (with state restrictions in place too). Definitely prioritising independent tourism more and more, but keen also to avoid car use in cities.

Some of the covid-19 "safety measures" that they take is for security theater.
    Is that correct?

  • @News.happenings.updates
