    I loved this tutorial. Thank you. It’s good to know what size needle I’d need if I want to add knitting. And it’s good to know how simple the decrease pattern is. I appreciate you. All your tutorials are excellent. I have hand knit some beautiful hats. And I just started using the Addi. I’ve been cranking out hats left and right. My family loves them. But, knowing them they wouldn’t know the difference if I hand knit the top or cinched it and neither would any of my non knitting gift recipients. If I ever decide to sell my hats though, I’ll definitely be doing this. Thank you.

    Thanks. This is exactly what I am looking to do, however I am looking for how to get it off the knitting machine without binding off so that I can then hand knit. I looked through your tutorials but didn't see this. Do you have a video on how to do that part by chance?

    It would be simpler to use waste yarn and knit 5 less row then pick up with the circular

    • @CalumetKnits
      @CalumetKnits  Před rokem +6

      You can! Two reasons I do it this way... 1) You need to leave a long tail at both ends; this way I know I will have enough. and 2) Most of the time I do make the decision to shape the crown until I have a pile of hats ready to finish. It gives me the option to cinch or shape.

    One of my knitting books suggested using a smaller circular needle for the lifeline, then you can just knit right from that! (I tried it on a pair of socks and it worked very well.) This is a nice finish for the tops of the beanies, thank you for the great tutorial!

    • @CalumetKnits

    Hi 👋. I love videos for a long time now and have always referred to them. My question on this one is are the k2, k2tog, k2 a pattern for the whole row then the k1, k2tog, k2 for the 3 row is that a repeated too?
    I'm a quadriplegic and using knitting needles are a thing of the past. The sento has returned knitting to me.

      I love how these machine make knitting fun again for people! Decrease first, third and 5th rows. Knit all stitches for rows 2 and 4.

    Can I do the same on a Sentro 48 using this knit 2 k2tog. Then I decrease on two ends of the hat?

    • @CalumetKnits
      @CalumetKnits  Před rokem +1

      Yes! The last 2 stitches will be knit together when using 48 needles. I decrease both ends of the hat so it's a smooth finish.

    • @CalumetKnits
      @CalumetKnits  Před rokem +1

      Yes it will. You will knit 2 together for the last 2 stitches on the Sentro 48.

      The beanie cheat sheet has 2 styles (fold up brim and no brim), 7 sizes for each style in 9 gauges. You can apply the crown shaping to any size/style.

    This is now 2023. I slowed this CZcams down to the lowest speed, which was still too fast. Who can really get the trick of the lesson with the camera speeded up to only have this video be less than 8 minutes. What was the point of the Tutorial? For people who are trying to get the knitting needles portion, this is so unfair to your new subscribers. This was a pretty good lesson if it were slowed down and the video lasted for 10 or so minutes. What is the purpose of the speed-up? Why are some of you CZcamsrs in such a hurry?? By now you should have triple the subscribers.

      She shows the decreases starting at about minute 3:30. Yes you can forward the video to this place and even stop it as needed. She does show the decreases in normal time and even explains how to handknit these. If you need more help handknitting, try a different video. She repeats knit 2 stitches, knit 2 stitches TOGETHER, all around the circle until you cannot stretch the knitting around the circle of the knitting cable. She shows what to do when the stitches are too few to spread around the cable of the knitting needle at about minute 5:15. She pulls out a loop of cable and works part of the circle of stitches then repositions the stitches on the cable. This is called using the Magic Loop method. You can check other videos to see how to do the Magic Loop method. (I use a different method using two circular needles, check for videos on this also.)

      I wonder why the other 99.9% of comments thank her for clearly giving instructions! Not all videos cover the basic beginning ABC's of knitting, and being snarky about it vs. taking the initiative to do a little basic stitch research will take you farther in life at your own self-improvement! Learning should be fun & it can take some time, which is your best reward because it didn't come easy & you weren't spoon-fed by 1 video. This video is about the closure & shaping techniques & it would be nice if you considered a public apology to match your public insults.
