Fact - The pitch was difficult to bat against spin in the first innings for SL .. as the bowl was spitting , bouncing and turning sharply hence why SL could not post 250.
As you said.. It was apparent... it became easier to bat under the lights against spin, on that pitch compared to batting first against spin.. which Rohit denied to acknowledge..
Had it not been that aggressive innings of Rohit Sharma.. yet again in the first 10 overs.. it would have been a different game..
Full marks to SL - a much needed result for them to gain confidence back.. It should have made them realize and believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel...
There is lot of serious cricketers like Dunith that SLC management need to open their eyes to inject them to the National squad and groom.. One of them is Chamindu W for both T20 and 50 overs.. Bhanuka to T20.. and more..
It is quite evident from Gill and Rahul that they were playing for their place and not for the team, when Rohit was playing selflessly setting the tone. The very purpose was they should also continue vein with good if not same tempo. In last series with SL also they played in same without any intent or intensity. Just look at Wellalage's face and those eyes. That is commitment. India again took asalanka the bowler lightly as part timer quite forgetting his fifer in last series. It is actually a disservice to Gautam on their part. Hope they will get rap on the knuckles. Best thing is to play jaiswal and Pant in next match and make them to cool their legs😡

I think Gill's innings was terrible, when Rohit was hitting the new ball with 100 plus strike rate, he should have also done that from the other end but he couldn't when the conditions were good, and then after it started to spin the other players had to struggle. Maybe KL Rahul or a Riyan Parag should open the innings so that we can also play Pant in the middle order
Yashasvi should play
At least he should have given a strike to Rohit by taking singles and letting him continue the tempo. Instead his boggling lost the momentum Rohit has built which resulted in loosing both their wickets.
