I love that you're trying to breed more normals for people who don't want to get into breeding, I think that's so smart and considerate
Thanks! :) they make great pets and not everyone has $500+ to spend on morphs, and we understand that!
This is exactly meâŠI think they are beautiful BUT I really donât want to spend 500+ on ANY pet (I have always adopted my pets)
I did get a male Conda at an Expo in Daytona for $200 and I was ok with thatâŠI just want a pet and I would not really ever get into breeding myself.
I saw a Hognose at that expo for 4000 đź
Awesome hognose snakes guys! Itâs pretty cool to see all the planing behind your projects!
Bree goes HARD my dude!
@@MikeTytula itâs awesome!
Thanks dude!!
Bree is the coolest đ„°Iâm really glad she did a video!
Sheâs pretty epic!
Oh! Oh! Oh! I NEEDED this video! I was going to get a Hognose pre-Covid but Covid happened so I waited. This spring, Iâm taking the plunge and super excited about doing it! Iâd love to see your wife talk more about these gorgeous creatures! â€
I honestly didnât realize there was so many morphs! The Lavender morph is my absolute favorite! Who doesnât like a purple snake? đđ
I gotta add Solkat is an absolute gorgeous animal too! đ
Haha gf not quite wife yet! Hognoses are fantastic creatures, and make for a great pets! Solkatt is one of my favourites!
They're all so beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how the breeding projects go.
Thanks so much!
Loved seeing the interaction between both of you. Loved the last hognoses one looked like it was wearing blusher.? X
Ya the Xenodon! They are awesome!
Thanks for the shout out guys! Awesome video! Keep up the great work and content!
Thanks for watching Mike! Absolem is finally eating more reliably, still has an attitude though!
Solkatt is gorgeous! I love the slight fading of the spots down the side. Good job bree, loved the video
Solkatt is one of my favourite!
for the female SUper Arctic Tiger het lavender het sunburst you could go with Artemis to keep your starry theme going, for the arctic Conda DH Coral male, you could name them Double Dutch! (i have no idea why that was the first thing that popped into my head.), the Arctic Het Lavender Hot Toffee- MacIntosh (type of toffee candy her in the Great White North), Best of luck with the 2023 season!
Thanks so much! Starting off well so far! Thanks for the suggestions :)
Wow Iâve never seen a hognose look like Rowan, I think it is? Sheâs stunning đ I can see why you got her at the expo, I wouldnât have passed that up either! Did they charge you more for her bc of her diff looks? This peaks my curiosityâŠ. Her visual looks. Lol. I would love to see her babies and see if this transfers. đđ
Oh she didn't look anything like that when we bought her haha. You can check out her change here: czcams.com/video/wz4aY0vtCKw/video.html
Absolutely stunning selection đ definitely true about how they look on camera I tried filming mine and they look great but definitely better in person. The camera doesnât do them justice but keep up the great work over there I always enjoy watching what you guys have going on and hope you both have an awesome day đââïžâïž
Thanks for watching! Happy you could tune in :)
Absolutely loved this video! I love hog noses and you guys have some stunners! I love that you got the mrs. Involved and walk us through the collection! Great video!
Hahha I try my best to get her on camera, but I think she mentioned about 3 times (before my editing) that she hates being on camera.
@@MikeTytula well let her know she did an amazing job. She didnât sound nervous or anything.
Ya she never does! She kills it everytime
I love that both you of you were in the video. Great collection of hognose.
Thanks for watching Chantal
Completely understand why she doesnât like doing videos but Bre is absolutely awesome!!! Wish We could see her more
I know.... it makes me so sad! She's good on camera too
Such an awesome collection, guys! Excited to see some of the babies coming next year. The Uruguayan Hogs are so cool. I've never seen anyone with these. Ever thought about trying Madagascar Giants? I know it's a whole different thing because of their size but they are so cool too.
Definitely donât have space for the giants! Iâm hoping to see them in the wild though :)
Definitely donât have space for the giants. Hope to see them in the wild though :) they I donât think Iâve ever seen anyone with dorbignyi either.
I adore Speckled Hogs and would like to add those someday! Will leave the Giants to someone else
Fair enough. That insane Madagascar trip is coming soon right? Man that will be epic just like Costa Rica. Let's Hope there's no bullet ants to harass you bud.
I know there are some gnarly ants there too, assuming the plane ride there doesnt kill me, we should be good!
This was worth watching đŻ... Mike you should get a Hog Nose for yourself, one of the best Hog Nose collections Ive seen on CZcams...
Thanks so much! I may eventually, weâll see :)
Beautiful collection!! Thanks for showing them off! The little girl with the pink tail... name her Petunia? đ
Thanks for watching! :)
So many beautiful little noodles!! Hognoses are just so cute!! The south American hogs are so pretty! Being more closely related to the tri colors, do they also have a shorter lifespan or do they have a longer lifespan like the westerns do?
Truthfully there is hardly any data on them, I would imagine they have shorter lifespans but it's hard to say to say for sure.
@@MikeTytula that makes sense! It'll definitely be interesting to see more information on these guys!
Ya there are a couple people working with them in europe so fingers crossed there's, no issues there and we can get some information from them if we need.
Love this video, Bree should feature more!
I would love for her to be featured more, but she hates the camera
Yay! I love when Bree is on! You're so knowledgeable! Just wondering, why wouldn't you work with snows?
Snows (Axanthic x Albino) exploded in popularity over the last couple years. This has resulted in a lot of inbreeding as people made a mad dash to acquire the necessary genes to make this combo and produce them to supply the demand. I see more genetic defects in snows and het snows than any other morph available. Deformities may include: bug eyes, shortened snouts, underbites, overbites and even neurological issues.
This is NOT linked to the genes - simply linked to the excessive overproduction of them by careless breeders. Based on the current trends I am seeing, in about 3 years time there will be more snow Hognose available than anyone knows what to do with. Therefore I have decided to avoid the project entirely, not because I don't enjoy the morph (I genuinely do it's very pretty), but because I just don't think producing more snows/het snows is good for the market and species at this time.
Anyone reading and still wanting a snow Hognose, don't let this discourage you! There are still some amazing breeders working with Snow and have done an incredible job with them.
There we go she chimed in :)
@@breezexoticsthatâs a very good explanation and reasoning. I was wondering the same thing. Watching Snake Discovery I didnât see any issues with their snows but honestly the popularity creating inbreeding makes a lot of sense.
Awesome!
Thanks for watching!!
Great video.. . Thank you!!!
Thanks for watching!
I can easily see why she loves Hognose!! What fun!
Ya they are neat creatures!
Awesome video! Bree is the đ
Bree is definitely the goat!
Hey I think you helped me with hognose feeding issues on a random facebook group :D hes eating great now! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
It was most likely Bree, but no problem! Happy to share the knowledge we have gained.
Hognose Snakes (along with Crebos) are my favorite species. They were one of the first snakes I encountered out on Eastern Long Island as a child at our country house. Unlike Westerns the Eastern Hognose are specialty feeders that eat almost exclusively toads (& occasionally frogs.) They actually have a special spine at the rear of their throat adapted for puncturing & deflating amphibians who try inflating to avoid predation! Eastern Hognose snakes deserve an Oscar for their acting ability at âplaying dead,â occasionally for long periods & even while being handled. Iâve never attempted keeping an Eastern Hognose beyond the summer months specifically because of their dietary requirements. I know Adam (Wickenâs Reptiles) mentioned a company that now produces liquids that smell like frogs/toads (& lizards) to saturate food items of specialty feeders like Eastern Hognoses and lizards for Crebos. While once abundant in the NE USA due tio habitat destruction theyâve become threatened and are now illegal to collect or possess. Also, because of their diets I donât know anyone breeding Eastern Hognoses unless some advancements regarding their captive feeding have been made in the hobby.
There was actually a study that showed up to almost 30% of a Eastern hognoses diet is insects, didn't read through the whole paper but saw a data table that should that! Who knew right?? There are definitely some people breeding them, but they are few and far between.
@@MikeTytula
Whoa! I want to find that research. I grew up with Eastern Hognoses in my backyard and all Iâve ever seen them eat were toads (and the occasional treefrog.) Some of those snakes were quite huge, I canât imagine what sort of insects might sustain them! Thanks for that info Mike! đđ»
@@davidvento5481 No problem! I would definitely take a look for that paper and see if you can get a copy of it to read because it was really neat.
@@MikeTytula đđ»
I have no interest in breeding, but I want my first hognose snake to be a Lavender because they are so darn beautiful. How can I resist? It's a purple snake! I can't wait until I am able to get one.
I hope that you have luck with your lavender projects.
Lavenders are hard to beat! We hope to offer some soon đ
They are beautiful! Just come with a hefty price tag to go with it haha.
@@MikeTytula #YOLO
DAMNRIGHTS hahhah
Iâd name the unnamed female Stella, one of my favorite movies is 30 days of night and takes place in the arctic (Alaska). Plus Stella was played by Melissa George.
If we hadn't already named her that would have been a great one!
I donât understand why Bree doesnât want to do videos she very knowledgeable well spoken and delightful personality and beautiful all that which the camera and people loves..
I know... I wish she was more confident on camera! Hopefully I can get her to do another one of these videos
Gee wiz! Well they are pretty. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
so many cool hognoses
Ya so many hognoses!
I'm used to Snake Discovery, pre-store and how many hognoses the two of them had with full time jobs and an alligator. Twenty-two ain't shyt comparatively, plus I wanna play devil's advocate, get MORE! lol
Why are you afraid of a hognoses? Rear fanged, very unlikely to cause an issue, am I wrong? I have been bit REPEATEDLY. I do the drop of vodka to the mouth of they won't go, and then rinse the mouth.
Nobody is afraid of them, just prefer not to get bitten. Because everyone reacts differently. There are definitely people that have reacted a decent amount to their bites.
i think my next reptile is going to be a hognose. i wasnt really a fan of snakes i have had a boa before but after seeing the hognose i really want one haha
Ya they are much more manageable than a boa!
Hawthorne looks like he's been airbrushed! Cool
Ya he kind of does!
One of my favourite snakes â€
They are gorgeous!
arktos which is Greek with the artic hognose it's in reference to constellation Ursa Major, or Great Bear, which features prominently in many cultures' myths about the heavens. Would fit for the artic hognose lol đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł Bree rowan sorry if I spelt that wrong she is stunning snake lol you made me want a hognose now lol there faces are so funny lol love the videos guys can't wait for the Madagascar trip I'm so jelly fish lol đ
that is probably the best and most well research suggestion I have heard for an animal hahah. I cant wait either! It's coming up!
Also, Maple has a kick-ass skull missing the jawbone as a head stamp.
Ahhhh true!
I always loved the eastern call me weird. I always like the Madagascar giants as well.
I really adore Eastern Hognose but they're illegal here!
Ya if easterns weren't illegal I'm sure some of those really nice red ones would be living here as well hahah
This is really late, but does Lux have any toffeebelly in him? He looks a lot like my toffeeglow conda so it made me curious. Thank you for sharing your babies!
Unless the breeder completely mislabeled him, no he doesn't have any toffee in him.
I prefer the term wild type instead of normal.
I have also thought that I should probably breed some wild type hognose. I don't really have any.
Awesome! I don't really mind either honestly, but WT makes the most sense.
Me: Oh, I know a little about hognose genetics so this should be pretty educational to me!
Bree: Shows Polaris
Me: So I actually know nothing about hognose genetics apparently đđ
Hahah he throws me off still
The snake shown at 7:03 has a dino footprint on his head. I'd name him one of the dinos off of Jurassic Park.
Ohhh that would have been a great idea! They are all currently named!
Cool snakes, Bree. Yall gotta name one of em Bertha. Other names - Mushu, Rush, Spangler, Dave Kaufman lol, Lynch, Beemo.
Hahaha Bertha đ
Please can you do this style video with the chahoua geckos
I do still plan to do an all my pets video, and show them all off! Probably not a dedicated video to just the chahoua unfortunately.
Thanks.
No problem
Honestly all of our hognoses are actually just named after other animals. Kitty, Dog, Goose, Piggy, capybara and so on
Hahah that is awesome!
Bree, why won't you work with snows? I know nothing about them so this may be a stupid question but I am legitimately curious as you seemed opposed to them for some reason.

There we go she chimed in :)
also Arkham looks awesome
Ya he is wicked!
Arkham's sister, I would say Magenta, Columbia or RKO in honor of Rocky Horror Picture show, she has the tower as a headstamp. That or Harley, but Harley is played out.
Solid suggestions
Do hognoses change in color and pattern as they age?
And why not the snow morph? Is there an issue with the genetics? Or just preference?
They get nicer typically as they age into an adult. I think Bree left a comment on this video explain the snow issue.
I grew up with some corn snakes and a hog nose. I wanna get another one but Iâm afraid Iâll get a âmeanâ one :â)
I mean you can talk to the breeder you are looking to get one from about it's temperment
Minty my boi
Thanks for watching man
Let's get him more subscribers
Thanks for watching! That would be awesome!
For the female tiger you kept back, how 'bout the name 'Pink'? Or if too common sounding you could call her Sapphire!
I like Sapphire:)
Egypt
Nice!
Well I guess I already knew that but this confirms that my little guy Niklaus at around 71 grams is big enough to breed.
Ya I would just make sure he wasn't power fed, and you should be good to go :)
what's the age difference between ghostkeeper and lux?
Lux is a 2017 male, and Ghostkeeper is less than a year old.
Can I dislike so u donât get a hog nose đ
Hahahaha feel free đđ€Łđ
Gazpacho for one of their names
Haha that's a good one!
Why are you so against working with snow hognoses? Is there an issue with that morph?
There are a lot of issues with inbreeding and bug eyes. That is the main issue
Why donât you work with snows?
Bree said, mainly because everyone is working with snows which is leading to a lot of inbred hogs.
FOR THE TOFFEE MALE, âCONNER or LECTERâ bc TOFFEE ORIGINATED IN WALES AND SEAN CONNERY IS WELSH.
Interesting!
How much will she be selling the normal Hognoses for
We will be selling normals for market value, so probably 200-250 CAD
Grace
Thanks for your suggestion!
What's wrong with snows? Lol đ
Nothing is really wrong with them. But everyone and their grandma is trying to make them so in a couple years they will be impossible to sell. Another issue is that everyone seems to be inbreeding to some extant to create them (knowingly or unknowingly), which is going to cause for even more bug eyed hognoses in the future.
@@MikeTytula yikes! I was going to work on snows but idk. I have other things I want to work on more.
I have an albino female with no known hets but I don't have any axanthic ones yet. I'm planning to pair my albino girl with my lavender. It actually seems like a lot of people are working on corals too but oh well.
@@Upper_echelon_exotics Ya that is true, but it's hard to do too much with a white snake. Like the leucies, completely dead end. At least with corals there are so many other things to be put into them
A moonstone is what you use to turn a clefairy into a clefable
Hahaha ya thatâs true!
The sister of Arkham should be Irena, Catwomanâs name
Damn! If only this comment came before we named her! Thatâs a great suggestion
Did she bite you? đ„ș
Nope! Nobody was bit haha
I think the unnamed female should be Machete because it looks like she has an axe on her head
I ended up going with Midori
Pink tail girl PartyGirl
Hahah we have already decided on a name! Thanks for the suggestion though :)
I love your babies! and their names!
Canât wait to make this years episode of the hogs!
@@MikeTytula I'll be checking it out. I'm thinking about trying to breed some in the future just for the joy of raising them and trying some j ideas out that i have.
They are a huge pain in the butt to raise, but once they start eating it makes it all worth it. Granted Bree does pretty much all of the hognose feeding.
Do u guys have a Morphmarket or Instagram?
We have both :)
