  • @neometalx9
    @neometalx9 Před 2 lety +2

    wouldnt that compromise your aligner?
    i didnt even know it could be bent that easily, if so, how can your teeth move properly if the aligner itself is that flexible?

    • @kungfoochicken08
      @kungfoochicken08 Před 2 lety +4

      It doesn't compromise your aligner as along as you're careful not to deform the individual mold for each tooth when you're doing it. The force you're exerting on the retainer is across a different axis than the retainer uses to move your teeth. For example, you can easily bend the retainer in half with your hands, but its almost impossible to tear the retainer in half. The force exerted on your teeth by the retainer is more like the force you'd use to pull the retainer in half. Also, the retainer only uses a little bit of force on a select few teeth per retainer. In this way, the other teeth act as an anchor while you're moving the specific teeth that tray is designed to move.
      Heat will deform the trays very easily though. Even something like hot coffee can soften the plastic up enough to cause it to deform.

    • @321ortho
      @321ortho  Před rokem

      It won't hurt your aligner. Your aligners are flexible and meant to be bent slightly (which happens every time you take them in and out). Retainers are NOT meant to be bent like this though!

      How did u solve this issue

    • @321ortho
      @321ortho  Před rokem +1

      Retainers are made out of a different plastic and they are not meant to be bent like this. This is only for Invisalign aligners as they are made of a flexible material.

    • @321ortho

      @@thebigadam7574 Typically if a clear retainer breaks, a new one needs to be made.
