- Hello! In this video, we're in Cape Verde in Mindelo and are taking a ferry across to the island of Santo Antão which is very close but you can't really go with the boat as there's nowhere to anchor.
We have family visiting, so we stay there for a few days and go and explore this island that is a real hidden gem! We do lots of hikes (if you would like more info on any of the hikes/places let us know in the comments), and are surrounded by greenery, fruit trees and sugarcanes! The whole island was really atmospheric and we couldn't believe how untouched it still was to tourism. A big highlight of our trip so far. Hope you enjoy discovering it with us!

The most interesting thing is that there's a connection between cape verde and Hawaii because of the whaling Era. It was us and azoreans that brought the cavaquinho aka ukulele to Hawaii and to this day, there are capeverdean descendants over there. I know this because I am native to cape verde who's been living in the USA since 1988. Blessings to you all and thanks kindly to this channel for showing love to my little country. Oh my goodness...such an stunningly beautiful place! The stones and terraces remind me a little bit of Machu Picchu but on a much smaller scale of course. So peaceful, lush, alive with abundant food. It's truly special for too many reasons to list and you did a wonderful job capturing it! 💙
You’re right it does remind me a bit of Machu Picchu too! Just the abundance of plants and the peacefulness. 2 of my all time favourite places!

Thanks. Great overview of one of our favorite places on earth. We lived in Sao Vicente for about 18 months and went to Santo Antao probably 24 times at all different seasons. Looks like you got there at a green and gorgeous time of year.
which month is this green and gorgeous? :) can't find anywhere which month they went there :) i want to go now February/March but the pictures i see are all cloudy and misty now
@@iamyouaretheyarenot3189 The rainy season (when they have one) is late July through about October so to see it that green you need to go around August through November at the latest.

Unfortunately Cape Verde government don’t know how show this side of Cape Verde. I was born in the fogo island, few km from a active volcano, just like santo Antão with amazing views.
