From our Southern California beginnings in 1972 to today, we continue to remain true to our BMX and mountain bike heritage. GT mixes performance with serious fun to deliver good times everywhere our bikes are ridden. Because after all, Fun is Serious Business.
GT Bicycles inspires a passion for riding by celebrating the brandâs roots in dirt and street culture. Since building GTs first BMX bike in 1972, GT has remained true to sharing the stoke on two wheels which the brand was founded on because, after all, you canât have Good Times without âGTâ!
BMX frames of the era just werenât durable enough. At least not according to Gary Turner. And so, using skills acquired from welding drag racing cars, he created the first GT frame in 1972 for his kid to use on the BMX SoCal race circuit. The frame was a hit.
GT Bicycles was born with a simple vision: to help riders push the envelope of whatâs possible on two wheels by creating the most reliable, innovative frames in the business. It was a vision immediately proven in the BMX community, with an overnight cult following on the BMX race circuit.
GT bikes became synonymous with durability and winning, bringing home more BMX race wins and clout than any other bike brand of the era. GT success was not solely found at the track, however, as riders like Bob Morales, Dave Voelker, Josh White, Eddie Fiola, Martin Aparijo, and Dino Deluca began to invent and perfect tricks that progressed the sport on the ground and in the air. As Freestyle evolved so did the bikes, like the iconic Pro Performer.
As BMX freestyle reached the peak of mainstream popularity, GT expanded into the emerging sport of mountain biking. Hans Rey, Juli Furtado, Nicolas Vouilloz, Rishi Grewal and Gerhard Zadrobilek validated GTâs approach with multiple world cup titles and national championships aboard bikes featuring GTâs iconic Triple TriangleÂź. This nontraditional frame design became a symbol for GT and was recognized as the industryâs most advanced frame design.
Committed to developing the best bikes on the mountain, GT pioneered the development of full-suspension mountain bikes. With frame designs like the RTS and LTS leading a new wave of technological advancements in the industry.

Life was so much better back in the 80"s
So was the coke
@@MiBurnout which coke
@@RustyVigero2005 both
Maybe in the US. 80s in my country was hell because of commie terrorists.
I'm 42 and I grew up an absolute bmx freak! I was always waaay more into the dirt track/racing/backwoods trail style ... but seeing that I've been GT BMX to-the-end, Eddie Fiola and the gt freestyle crew were, are, absolute legends. A great treat to witness live, from day 1
i'm 45 now and was just saying we grew up in the best time period. F the 60's fo the 70's.. The 80's was where it was at!!
@@AngryD Could not agree more...I am 56 and say the same thing and I lived through it all and the 80;s was the best time for many things especially BMX
Great time to grow up. I was 12 in 1985 and GT Bikes were the coolest with the pastel colors, white mags, handle bars and seat posts. I never learned all of these flatland tricks but it sure was fun back then riding and trying to learn them.
dham629 yup, I'm more of a dirt track fan even to this day. I'm tryna find either a yellow, or the baby blue (er, should I call it SKY blue haha) GT PRO SERIES. The gt colors were off the charts back i our day. In 1985, I was 10 yrs old, a GT bmx freak, a gi Joe and transformers maniac, and I was outside all day ripping around my forest 'hood, and wow into town, in pennsylvania/jersey, cruisin' the streets on my GT MACH ONE, wit my bro I grew up with , him on his Mongoose 'Californian'. If only I still saw that dude around, and of only we still had those old skool bikes! Mine was stolen in like 1990 grrr. I'm eyeing up a pro series on eBay as we speak. Anyone out there tryna sell a 1980's GT bmx, hit me up!
Yes !! same experience :)
Me too đ born in 1973
I can't do any of these tricks either, but I prefer watching this than the Figure Skating that almost all the flatlanders are doing nowadays..
I'm 54 and still riding in Charlotte, NC. Come ride with us if you're in the area
I always wanted a GT world tour as well!!! The country in the 80s was great and how it should of stayed!!!
Man I always wanted a GT World Tour!
I have this on a GT video I got for xmas in '85, Amazing stuff, still blows me away today.
ooooooohhhh my gosh... what a memories.....I miss the old days.. all we were so young
I've seen a lot, but the handstand on the bars is the sickest display of skills.
Bar press...I could do it back in the day. Better days.
Why aren't any of those people in the audience looking down at their iphones?
There was no iphones back then. Your comment represents todays generations.
Because it was interesting
Bud he was being sarcastic
Because there was life back then....now everything is zombied.
In the moment :)
Haha..brings back my sweet 80's memories.. back then we worship Eddie Fiola, Martin Aparijo, Richie Anderson and others.. watching RAD movie every weeks. Falling in love with Lori Loughlin n Nicole Kidman in BMX Bandits. BMX goes more extreme these days but 80's started it all.. just like Cannibal Corpse with their extreme music but Slayer is still the undisputed king of metal.
This was nice to read and its the reason we did what we did!
Glory daysâ€
omg, this brings back ol memories...my 1st bmx video back in 85.. which is sooo rare those days.. we use to make copies after copies on vhs ...hahaha...
When the old stuff was the new stuff.
I'm 39 and this was my dream as a kid, ridin Team GT with Martin Aparijio, Josh White and my man Eddie Fiola. oh the 80s, how I miss them so.d:^P
I'm 40 years old and I still have my 1986 redline RL20a freestyler from my flatland years. The funny thing is that I probably still could do all these tricks.
hcelentano cool. go to my channel to see my new vid i did a few days ago. i am 42 and a old school flatlander. i make flatland and bmx videos. peaceee. old bmxers never die.
All those moves came from this movie called Quicksilver back in the 1980s
Awesome
Freestyle has advance so much because of the legends.đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€
Pure joy, and happy life.
I'm not sure why, but the music is so fitting!
Praise bmx for everything

I owned a GT pro performer from the 80's. Haha
Black Dyno Detour with folding front Pegs..
Chrome Dyno Pro Compe
Damn those old school tricks use a lot of rear coaster breaking. I gotta go get a coaster set yo I know Iâm not the only true rider that notices this
Damn I remember when I had my beautiful dark red Dyno GT with the 3 spokes with gt printed on them đđđđđđ i miss you bike where ever you may be today hope who ever stole you got good use of you and took care of you

Thats still kick ass dude! Make no mistake, a wheelie is an awesome show of balance
Awesome đ amazing video!đ„đŁđ§šđThe talent and skills are phenomenal!
I used to fuck myself up doing this shit! The hospital bills between this and learning how to breakdance! So many stitches!! Draining the knees and fat lips......Never again!

Best time to grow up. Always had something to do and some where you wanted to be. Always looking to imitate a hero we saw growing up. If it was from a professional BMX rider, skater, weight lifter who did that and movies, Kung Fu, boxer in Philly, a jet fighter or all star athlete in highschool, we had lots to pick from and try to be. Know days, what or who, guy in you tube making some dumbass videos, playing Gary's mod, where did all the fun and hereos go? Thank God I was fortunate enough to have been a part of the best generation there was.
please help .. Gede take parts on this bike ????
I got a Dyno Compe 20 coming from Ebay
why don't they make bikes like this anymore?
Does anyone know the trick at 2:16?

Bmx way more technical now but it was more enjoyable to watch back then. Anybody know the name of this song or who the hot blonde is in the video?đ
Music : By your side
Blonde : Ron Wilkerson's wife
Eurythmics: Right by your side. The location is Venice beach, so blondes like those are a common sight.
