This actually worked omg I can’t believe I didn’t try this a year ago. You deserve all the joy and happiness in the world
Update: it reverted back to the stick drift after about 1 hour of use :(
It’s not as bad but it’s still there. I don’t think there’s a permanent fix for my controller
@@user-hb7em6vl8p you know whats under the thumbsticks? those green things and that stick where you put your stick on buy a new one of it
permanent fix involves the removal of a specific piece in the actual analog. It makes the joystick feel very light after removal, though, with almost 0 stiffness associated in moving the joystick@@user-hb7em6vl8p
@@user-hb7em6vl8pdang i felt that when your happy something is fixed just for it to go back to the same bad thing again that genuinely makes me sad
@@user-hb7em6vl8p it happened to me too, 1 hour later and the drifting came back, it sucks.
wtf is wrong with microsoft, phillips from OG to xbox one, and i never had to take controllers apart.. all of a sudden on next gen controllers are highly susceptible to this shit and its T8 now? Has to be on purpose.
I've never had any problem with a controller drifting except for the series x. Such a joke how much these cost yet they can so easily break after a couple months of use.
I’ve got to agree with you my pal I’ve had several of these break on me the one I got with my console completely died on me inside a week of it being new my old gen controller I had for about 8 years without an issue surely they know how bad these devices are we're being robbed to be fair
Same I had my Xbox one controller which I used for 4 years considering I bought it used the controller must’ve been older too. Yet I never had any problem with it. Now my series x controller after 2 years suffer insane stick drift
I bought the electric green controller. And got stuck drift after a year but the one that came with my series S is still good. Makes no sense. I got gifted a turtle beach react-r wired. Drifted within a few weeks. Seems like the found a way to make chumps out of us all and shill out the dough for new ones.
@@bend7726mine got the drift after a few weeks no smashing nothing😔
Straight to the point and fixed my controller. Thanks man :) EDIT: unfortunately after some time its happening again
Use a q tip to clean inside the green things with IPA
@@ElevatorWasher5000I did that with my ps5 controller and it fixed my drift
@@johnboy4955do you just pop them open
Started happening to my controller the other day. This video really helped me out thank you so much. Don't have any dust cleaner so I just blew into it a lot and that mostly solved it, I imagine if I went and got some it might be fully gone. Thank you again!
Seeing the faceplate off was like seeing Darth Vader without his helmet.
Thank you for getting straight to the point!
Thanks, I was too lazy to take mine all apart and just blew through the stick bit and it works! Thanks for the inspo
Great advice. I would for sure try using the duster on it prior to disassembly. It worked for me
Dude, you're a legend! Thank you!
This worked for me, my stick drift wasn't that bad but it was noticeable and it was getting annoying. when I opened it I realized that there was some debris stuck on the mechanism, so I cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, had a nonstatic brush and cleaned it well. Used some canned air too. I calibrated the controller and it's been working fine so far.
You can use a small drill bit to grind off the ridiculous security spur in the middle of the screws so you can remove them with an ordinary t8 bit
Trynna find the right tool was the challenge for me. I tried different bits, but I gotta go to the tool store and buy at T8
I pried the security bit off with a flathead and then used a t8 to remove the screws
👍a t8... dammit none as small as that tho..need to go to b&q
Wish I seen this before I drilled the screws out lol
Thank you I was waiting for you to make this video
10/10 video controller fixed and vid had no fluff
I put the vacuum over the analog sticks and all the buttons and it worked for me.
Thanks for this video. Opened up my friends ps5 controller 🎮 and cleaned up a bunch of dog hair. It helped me out. Thanks!!
I knew it. With my first controller I would temporarily fix my stick drift by blowing into the controller through the right analog stick hole. I'm gonna take it apart and clean it now.
Thanks bro, awesome video
Wow. Ultimate respect. It worked. Thank you 💪
Helped a little bit
Great video! Didn’t work, lol. The controllers are just crap.
fax
Yep,you said it,I’ve never had issues with PS controller
Haha said the guy who probably throws his controller on a daily basis 😂
Bro I have to buy a new Xbox controller every 6 months at least. This one I've been very careful with. Granted I have dropped it a few times and that was enough for stick drift. I'm only playing Yakuza right now so it's not TOO terrible just annoying af
It's worked, thank's
Thank you.
Thank u save me money
Did they change the screws? I got a T8 bit and it wasn’t working at all (as in I couldn’t take them out).
It almost looks like there’s something in the screw but I can’t tell
Thank youuuuuu, I can't believe something so simple was the way to fix my stick, also thank you for making it short and to the point.
EDIT: ok the solution lasted for like an hour, the drifting came back and I think it's even worse than before, it's not a solution after all I guess :(
I have a question. For the side plates, are they easy to snap back on or is there some effort needed?
Not entirely too difficult
I don't have stick "drift" but I am having an issue where the sticks feel "wobbly" and even on my brand new controller I noticed a bit of wobble on the right stick right out of the box. It blew my mind that the sticks just lift off like that. Hopefully I can see what's causing that wobble once I get the sticks off. it really bothers me because the xbox one controllers never did the wobble.. thanks for the video. gave me a bit of hope
Same issue, the wobble is so bad that the stick stays on one side and continues to drift. Were you able to fix it?
Once I got the faceplate off and the analog caps off I cleaned everything out I looked close but was unable to find why it was still wobbling but couldn't find anything. I ordered some new analog caps off amazon and they're a lot tighter. my guess is they'll start to wobble eventually too. but its a temporary fix at least. and it was only $8 for four replacement caps@@X99Zero
Each generation, MicroTraash controller's get worse and worse.
Actually, not even each generation but each year. I had 3 Xbox one controllers and the best one was the oldest I got with the console in 2016.
Glad I'm not a gamer anymore!
Same here, having the wobble issue on the left stick, it really irritates a lot and feels i might break it if I use the LS button very frequently.
Thank you for the tutorial, can I use a bit of wd40?
Thankss broo
thanks for including the part where you could possibly break the power supply.
Worked like a charm thanks
Still works after a month?
Hi just got this controller and, right trigger has a 3mm. dead zone, can it be fixed or just return the controller?, i tried updating firmware and it helped a bit, and now it's 2mm. Also I hear a weird noise in the Xbox button area (when controller is on), but only when I bring the controller really close to my ear, is that sound normal? I hope you respond soon!
If you can return it, then return it!
@@godnyx117 I sold it already, but thanks anyway.
@@vovazagach1781 You're welcome! Have a nice day brother!
I wacked it until it fell apart and than I put it back together and it was fixed
Hello sir I have problem with my controller it wasnt calibrated my analogs didn't stick to the calibration wall and right ananolg in cod wouldn't stop just moving right and left I took it to a so called technensian and he changed shocks for 3 or 4 times last time I tested it and everything was normal but when I returned home and wanted to play after 5 min controller got crazy left analog only want to left d pads jumping 2 up and down I recalibrated it fixed but 5 min later it got crazy again this time right shock only fast turning to left and left and right sides were changed.after every successfully calibration its goes crazy again Please help me is this issue from board or shocks.its been 10 days and not fixed yet.
It really worked thank you boss
Great tut, thanks.
Didnt work though. Warranty time
If u took the controller apart your warranty is voided
@@lucky-me5vh The sticker can be peeled back without damaging it, well for me anyway, the kind people at Costco allowed for a refund which was used to buy a new one.
thanks for the info though as people should be aware of it.
I’m stuck at the removing face plate 🥲 one of the screws won’t undo , but the rest did , it’s a new controller so 😅
i take the sensors out and clean/replace them. just make sure to recalibrate afterwards
My thumb stick goes up all the time
What if it's the opposite of drift? Lile character randomly stops moving like its not registering you pushing forward unless you click down on it? Is there a fix for that
yeah just try to clean the stick too. its the same but on another stick right?
@@Petruu-fw5kd no it's my left stick. It isnt drifting it just stops randomly every min or so my character will just stop and I have to click it in for it to register me pushing forward. I have cleaned it multiple times
Sounds defective
@@DavidDarkness115I have the same issue. Left side only registers up/forward if I click it in first and hold it forward
Try using isopropyl alcohol 70 percent or higher, if that dosent work you may need a new controller
Where can I find a separater??
Good Hall Effect Xbox Controller: GameSir G7
It's wired. But, it is also a hall effect controller for only 44.99 USD.
Ya, those screws are not all the same size. I tried every screwdriver out there, and nothing fit the bottom or center screws.
They are safety screws and you can break the safety screws with a flat head. It is like a little metal tower on the middle of the screw or buy a t8 safety screw driver
Torx T-8 Security
They won't furlcing break why the hell do they use these screws
@@colewagner5509
Did everything exactly but once u put it back together it doesn’t turn on anymore . What did I do wrong ?
Its absolutely ridiculous honestly that this is a £60 controller sometimes even more that suffers from drift due to bad design. Will never be buying another one of these !
every controller will get stuck drift if they aren't hall effect
you know how to fix it if it is sticking to where you point it. If I pull it up it stays
What screwdriver best for this please
T8 security Torx screwdriver
I am using regular wd 40 hope it works
What kind of screw driver do we need. Seems to be different?
You need a t8 screw driver
Whats the next step if it doesn't fix it
cant i just use a spoon to open the controller??
What kind of screwdriver did you use
Torx 8 but i used a torx 9 it fitted better
Bro when i did this after my controller wasnt turning on even with new batteries that were working before the rapair
Didn't work. I threw the piece of shit into the trash. Never again Microsoft.
What if it's not dirt doing it? Like if a sticky substance like soda got in it?
Iso alcohol- 91% or better
@thenoob8182 buy a new controller and maje better life choices.
@@joshuafallet5690Broooo 😂 you didnt have to do him like that 😂😂
Why does this happen ? Purely on Xbox and Microsoft ?
It worked will give updates
Update
@@Ssavv22 it works still
I cant screw them they wont budge
I got a new controller about 6 months ago, and it already has horrible stick drift. I thought for sure this would work, but it didn’t. I guess I have to spend $70 on a new one already
If blowing doesn't work, use Q-tips. (NOT Jumbo-sized) :)
My controller only had a 3 month warranty separate from the console's one year warranty so that sticker is going bye bye bro thx
How u easily open the side plates .. mine broked
Use pulling assisted force more so than prying force, wedge something narrow and a little longer into the underside of the trigger area. Pry it loose until the top becomes detached and then pull firmly, not hard. It should just pop right off instead of break.
I have a Xbox One X controller and my friend is fixing it. Its the same problem.
Cant get the side plates off at all 😅
I replaced the analog disk sensor with a PS2 analog disk sensor. And it worked. Now my Xbox controller doesn't drift anymore.😆👌🏻
Torx ttap needed not just torx
My controller wont turn on i did everytjing it wont turn on anymore
What can be used as a pry tool?
Flat head aka minus screw driver
It didn’t work😢
Wouldn't that push the dust in the thumbstick?
If the compressed air pusher is stronger enough it should blow it upwards
i did this word to word and my controller isnt turnibg on
Still not turning on?
Put the batteries back in
those star-screws are pain in the ass to deal with
Snap the middle off with a little flat screwdriver
Got any reccs on which screwdriver to buy for this task?!
Just get a cheap security torx set. Should be size 8, 9, or 10
Just buy a set of bits, they're really cheap and just good to have on hand.
I think the only fix is to buy a brand new xbox one controller and customize it to you liking
Everyone complaining about how quickly these fail. Microsoft do a really good no quibble return. Just get a Microsoft account, register the serial number of the controller, then if its under warranty follow the instructions. Takes about 10 days in the UK. You will get what looks like a brand new controller back, just in plain packaging. Save that packaging for the next time 😊
I was going to take my xbox controllers apart and clean them until I read your comment. Both controllers were in warranty, it was such an easy process. Sent them on Saturday morning and just got an email saying the new controllers are on their way so should arrive tomorrow (Wednesday). Thanks so much, you saved me a lot of hassle.
Is their another way to get the screws out because I don’t have an T8 bit
You can try using a flathead if it’s small enough it should get wedged in there, may damage the screws a little tho
you can buy set of all small bits for 10euros on amazon
But you *do* have the Internet and at least enough money to afford an Xbox, sooooo...
@@CLove511 He's probably a kid and doesn't have the funds or transportation to get the tools dude, cut him some slack
Does not work who said this work you need too learn too solder or replace the potentiometers on the controller sadly this barely fix anything
Tried this in 4 controllers but nothing changed...
good thing the screw heads are so shallow the t8 bit does fuck all nothing.
they have pins in the center of the screw heads, so the t8 bit needs to be hollow? JFC these is garbage.
I have everything but a t8
I did everything and it still didn't work for me
Mine doesn’t work anymore 👍
Hello brother iam from India and i have been clean the controller but it not fixed what can i do plz reply bro
Great I just did this and now my controller won’t turn back on 😂🤦♂️

Wtf do I find a T8?
I can’t get the middle screw out
You have to use a T8 Torx screwdriver

🔥❤️🔥 this actually did not work.❤️🔥🔥
The t8 cant get them out, the screws are too tight. Thanks microsoft…
Legit didn’t work and i have to drop another stack of cash on a new controller. Didn’t help but good vid
This video is absolutely false i tried and it still didnt work it was like i didnt even take it apart
Didn't work.
Drift is meant to happen so u buy new shit. I just broke my controller so you got what you eanted bill gates
Fr I have had 2 controllers break in 6 months. Absolutely ridiculous. Equals to the amount of DS4 (PS4) I have had break on me in whopping 10 years. Regret going back to Xbox now - f**k micropigs
I just bought a new Xbox One controller from Microsoft a month ago on Amazon and not even 2 weeks go by before the right thumb stick starts drifting upwards. I almost returned the controller because it shouldn’t be doing that at all brand new out the box. 2 days after my return window closed it got worse and now I can’t even use it. The controller is literally brand new wtf. About to go on Amazon and leave a 1 star review on this junk 😂😂
$70 wasted
Made it worse
