I've had a love-hate relationship with the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite IV All-Weather shoes.
On my first impressions, I didn't love this model. It felt overpriced, less breathable, and not as though it was an upgrade from my beloved Primus Lite IIIs. However, I'm happy to say I've changed my mind on these.
In my Vivobarefoot Primus Lite IV AW review, I'll cover the key details you should know before investing in this shoe.

13:45 Conclusion, Would I Buy These Again?
At the end of the day, I do think there's a use case where the Primus Lite IV All-Weather makes a lot of sense.
Would I recommend these for everyone? I would not. In fact, I think there are multiple options that perform just as well in the gym as this model for lower price points.
However, if you are that city dweller who needs a model for inclement weather, training, and 4-season wear, then I think this shoe can make sense.

I appreciate the honesty as to who should or shouldn't buy it.
Thank you! Yeah, ain’t no need to mislead with that type of price point, lol. Most of the Vivo diehards love every model, but that doesn't mean everyone should run and buy them ffs
Hey Jake. Thanks for all the good info ! Here's something towards the next review 😉
Whatttt!!!! You did not have to do this, but thank you so much, sincerely 🫂
I’ve had these for about a year and have to say I like these better than the not all weather ones. I live in a semi urban area and did feel great to have an all season shoe. The water resistant upper definitely has held up to tearing around the toe area that I almost always go through with shoes after about 6-12 months. Surprisingly my stitching has almost held up at the toe break. On the medial side it just recently started to thread about 9 months of consistent use through daily wear, running, lifting, plyos, and ATG styled training. Would definitely buy again but have something breathable for the summer.
Thank you for sharing!
Does it keep water out pretty well?
@@usedblazers I found it does! I don’t recommend doing this but my fiancé and I went to a water park and I didn’t have water shoes so I was like why not keep these on. My socks stayed dry even after full submerging them. With that being said, I think my mistake was doing since the chlorine probably wore out the protection a tad faster. They’ve kept my feet drying running in puddles and being outside after that still for about a year.
Currently shopping for a new pair of shoes right now, and the moment you mentioned that you also live in Austin & brought up the weather I immediately knew this shoe wouldn't be for me. I'll get something from Vivobarefoot for sure. Just not the AW version.
Haha, yeah these are some hot SOB here! The Primus Lite III and Primus Lite Knit would be better options here.
Great video! I got primus lite knit and they run half a size large. Are these run similar size or slightly smaller than knit model?
Yeah, very similar fit!
Let’s gooooo!!!!!!
Had this one in the queue for toooo long!
I got the trial knit FG, returned because of the problem you mentioned about pressing into my feet. I am wondering for all the vivo training/running shoes you've tested, which models don't have this problem (at least not that obvious)?
The Primus Lite III has been the best training focused model that hasn't had this issue. The Motus has also been okay since it runs a smidge more TTS!
As a half size and a 4E would you suggest sizing up? I know it'll run long but that width is important.
Yeah!
In the sizing section you said if you sized down to a size ten it would be to snug but then in the measurement section you said in my size 10, what size did you get?
I’m a 10 and buy 10 and they run a smidge long. I meant nine and misspoke. Missed that in editing
Hi Jake. Is this model good for long distance run? If not, do you know a better model ?
Eh, breathability isn't the best. I'd go with something with a more ventilated upper. Primus Lite Knit/3/Geo Racer Knit can be better picks from Vivo
About the Primus lite 3. I noticed that they also have Primus Lite 3.5. Is there any difference? They look really similar.
Have the upper materials separated yet?
Still hanging on!!!
@@thatfitfriend maybe a water test will let you know for sure.
@@usedblazers I’ve submerged em a few times now and they’ve been okay. Also move knowing Vivo will replace if they rip, they’re usually good about durability stuff like that
I love the way these look, but unless they come to a store near me, I don’t think I can get these. The sizing is just too odd, idk what size I’m supposed to be and the shipping and returning is just too much work for me
Great review!
FEEL that. It's such a pain with Vivo. Thank you!
Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I swear there was a Primus Lite III all weather and this is exactly how it looked like. Same color.
Did they really just re-release and change the name to IV 🤡🤡🤡
I don’t think you’re wrong…that’s been a complaint I’ve had with these, too. Maybe there was an upper tweak? 😅
@@thatfitfriend I have the “all weather IIIs” that I bought maybe 5 months ago then saw on their site the ivs and was just confused 😂
Great video btw though!!!
@@ajmangoba12 shoot me a video on IG of them? I’m curious to see how similar they are
Thank you!
I have the 3s as well: looks like a different fabric on the upper. I think the laces on the 4 are longer, which is good as they are so useless they need to be double-knotted :)
