Love this series…Being 82, I have over 55 years worth of “crafting supplies” available for journaling, collage, fabric or paper, and for most of the videos you have listed…let’s get started…I don’t know how many years I’ve got left and I want to get as much done as i possibly can!🤨🙏💐
Patricia … it is so encouraging to me to know that the love of crafting endures no matter our age, and the passion to create, learn, and use our collected treasures supplies can be enjoyed all our lives. I love that you found me and hope to see you here sharing your wisdom and enthusiasm. 🤍🤍🤍
Beautiful at 82
At 77 I am so pleased to see someone my senior still creating! God bless!!
That was so fun to watch. You’re giving great explanations and showing various techniques. Thank you so much
l love it it looks lovely 2 me.
I want to say you’re my kind of crafter. I absolutely love your humor. I heard about junk journal years ago but paid no mind to it because when I watched a few videos I was so discouraged that I didn’t have all the components to make a beautiful junk journal. Till as recent as maybe a month ago when I came upon a few junk journalers that caught my eye because they were speaking my language😂. Then I came upon your Chanel and you spoke even to the core of my type of junk journaling. Voila! Finally someone who I can relate too. So for the first time in my minimal crafting life, I made 3 disastrous junk journal that only I appreciate😊😊😊. BUT, I am going to continue making them till I can get it right.
Vivian, thank you for this sweet comment, it's really comments like yours that inspire me to continue making videos. I'm sorry you were discouraged before, crafting should be our outlet and joy and I hope I can inspire you to know that you have all you need to make projects that make you happy. I hope you will return, I'm happy you are here.
Im a newbie journalist just experimenting with the boxes. This is a huge help and that journal is so cute!
Thank you so much for the kindness!
LOVE that you show you don't have to do it absolutely perfect!!! And it still comes out great!!!
Itty bitty…Thanks! Perfection is never as important to me as the process and the fun of creating. Perfectly imperfect is fine by me! Thanks for watching and for your kindness!
Very cute.
Thanks so much!
Lol I’ve even been using NyQuil gel caps and BCs boxes for mini journals to practice since I’ve never made one before so far they work great for mini ones
What a great idea! Mini books are so fun to make and that's a great tip for everyone, start small, not only do mini's look adorable but they give you confidence to tackle bigger books when you are ready. Thanks for sharing and for tuning in!
New Subscriber here❤ I find your channel to be very detailed oriented on boxes.. Very impressive TFS❤👌🏆
Thanks for subbing! I appreciate you.
Thank you for you video you made it easy I’m going to try one for myself ❤
I’m so glad to hear that Martha. I hope you have fun.
LOOOOVVVVE ITT!!!!
Thanks so much!!!
Love it❤
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Ficou muito lindo, amei. Tentarei fazer um para iniciar nesta arte. Obrigada por compartilhar seu conhecimento 🥰🇧🇷
Thank you! Good luck!
I love to recycle while I’m crafting my books. I have used a few boxes to start books and will do more now. I love the binding methods you’ve used and plan to incorporate that practice, too. Love your channel! ❤
Thanks so much for watching Shelly and I hope you enjoy your box journals as much as you enjoy other forms of Junk Journaling. It's funny I use different types of journals for differnt things. For keepsake journals I use Old Hardcover books, but find paper box journals perfect for travel journals, ideas and notes. I also like them when I'm doing a weird shape and size.
I really like how you glued the paper down inside the book cover. Great way to make sure it won’t tear when opened!! Genius!!
I’m never called genius… you made my day. 😂😂😂 Thank you so much for watching.
I love your channel new subscriber.🎉
Welcome!! Thanks for subbing!
I'm subbing. I'm 73 and have 40 years worth of stuff. Hope I make it to 82 like Patricia Smith! I just make journals for myself. I use Tyvek rather than muslin, because the one thing I don't do is sew...fancy machine gifted to me years ago and never opened.
Hello Erica and Welcome!!!! It gives me such encouragement to meet people who craft and create through every decade of life. I'm sure you have a treasure trove of goodies to use. I'm so glad you are here. Thank you for introducing yourself and giving my day a dose of happy!
Hi Michelle how do you decide what papers to put together for signitures?
Thank you for all the info thus far
Absolutely enjoyed every aspect of this, now I’m not afraid to do one😊🧑🏻🦳
I’m so glad to hear that. I hope your journal turned out well and that you enjoyed the process.
I love how the journal came out! Beautifully created.

I am enjoying this series. I just so happened to have cut some boxes for journals and then found this! So excited to do them
Wonderful! It sounds like perfect timing, I hope your journals come out great!
Michelle... I make all mine with boxes... I like it because I have different sizes to work with... BTW my daughter's middle name is Rae also...
Hi Lari, I get so inspired by the different sizes of the boxes too! They are a great FREE craft supply. I love the name Rae... I hope she does too!

I love your tutorial style! I have watched a ton of these videos and yours go at just the right pace. And your voice is very nice to listen to as well. Beautiful journal. Definitely checking out 49 Dragonflies. Thanks so so much
Meghan ... this means so much to me. Teaching is my passion, especially with paper. Barbara of 49 dragonflies is one of the hardest working genuine women out there...she's worth checking out. I hope you will continue to watch...we need creative souls like you in our world. Thanks!

Looks really cute. Thank you.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching . 😊
I just found your videos today. I loved how you used the boxes. One of my grandchildren’s birthday is in February ., so I want to make her a journal for her birthday month. I am looking forward to starting my journal tonight. I have a wheat thins box ready to start. If you have any suggestions on how to make it a birthday month journal , I would love some advice.
Hi there! Thanks for watching. If I was doing a Birthday month themed journal I’d make sure to include the flower and gemstone of the month, maybe the zodiac sign and description too. I might dangle off the spine a gemstone or jewel dangle that the right color for the month. Research online ideas and digitals that you could download. Sounds Fun! ( ps- I might even
include a secret birthday letter, tucked in a hidden spot for her to find later)
Great 🌈👍
Thank you 🤗

This is the first video of yours I have watched and you did an awesome job on the tutorial! 😁 I LOVE 💕 the way you did this mac and cheese box. It’s so so cute. TFS! Can’t wait to make a JJ like this and watch more of your videos. 🥰
Thank you so much!! I appreciate you watching, commenting and for your encouragement.
Hello Michelle! For my corners I usually cut them at an angle, like cutting a triangle off and makes it perfect for folding over with less work:)
Thanks for sharing Christie... I love when people share their tips with me and all who watch! I appreciate you watching and contributing a helpful tip!
💗💕💗💕💗💕💗💕
Thanks!
Hi Michelle. I am thinking of doing these with my third grade class. Will Elmer's glue in light layering with glue sticks work rather than glitter glue?
I love when kids do projects like this. Art Glitter Glue is expensive and yes… third graders don’t need to use that. I taught this with tweens and used glue sticks ( permanent). You can also use PVA glue or white glue for tiny details. Make sure you have popsicle sticks / tongue depressors to burnish the paper down if you use glue sticks. On the cover you would really want the kids to use those sticks to burnish and adhere the cover paper well.
I love that stamp kit you got may i ask where you got it
Hi Christina! The stamp set is from Cavallini Paper co. and the name of it is Avion. Cavallini is one of my favorite brands, but I'm not sure if they still make their stamp sets. You can however find them online and second hand. I hope that helps.
I feel weird and stupid for asking this, but since I'm brand new to junk journaling, WHAT are digitals and printables? I've done basic scrapbooking about 20 years ago, and I've never heard these terms. Thanks so much in advance. I'm truly interested in this type of craft, mainly because the journals are not typically humongous, such as the 12x12 scrapbooks from a major company.
Hi Anjo! Thanks for the question and for reminding me that when you begin there are some terms that we forget we didn't know at the beginning. In general terms a digital or a printable is essentially has the same definition... its a computer file that you download and print off your printer that includes all the things you need for a journal (background papers, tags, shapes, words etc. all curated into a theme) . Digital kits can be purchased on Etsy through hundreds of shops that specialize in every theme you can imagine! Digitals can also be just digitized ephemera (which is what I have in my shop). Those items can be printed off and used within a journal as embellishments or to help with collage or layouts. The beauty of digitals is you can use them over and over, you can print them at the size you need for your project and they take up no space to store. Some people are Junk Journal purists and only want to use original papers, found items, or perhaps someone without a printer isn't too interested in digitals. I never used printables at the beginning because I was so excited about vintage papers, but now I use both original papers and digitals. Several of the more popular Junk Journal channels have their own facebook pages where they often share free digitals if you wanted to try that out first, or there is a facebook group that literally only shares their own digitals. You can try those first and see if you like them. I also have a free valentines day digital that you can access through my last Tea With Me Episode. Download a printable and then see if you like it. There is no wrong or right regarding digital kits (printables) but people certainly are fans or not. I hope that answers your question.
Michelle, could you put a link for a how to for the hand sew binding? Thanks so much.
My hand binding is lousy compared to most… let me find a good video as an example and I’ll put it below this comment once I do. Xo
Lisa here's a link to Tracie Fox's explanation on how to do a 3 or 5 hole pamphlet stitch which is the most basic.... but clearly something I still need to work on. ;-) czcams.com/video/fZh27cE4Dko/video.html
Use graph paper for perfect lines and spacing...
sorry if i missed it but how many sheets per signature did you make?
I find that these boxes are not sturdy enough. They are flimsy
Am I using too much glue stick?
Hi Loretta! These books are not as strong as Buckboard for sure, but I enjoy the flexibility of them, they are closer to soft cover books, but I find them plenty sturdy for working in. Even if you put a lot of glue stick, once dried it shouldn't weaken the box. I don't know if some boxes are thinner than others... but one idea is cutting a rectangle of cardboard the size of the front and back and gluing that on top of the box before covering and that should really ensure the cover is sturdy if you are worried about it feeling or being too thin. I hope in the end you like your box journal. Best wishes to you.
