That view is beautiful! The wallpaper is somethin' but it does look nice and cozy! 😀
The view truly was the best part! We'll see how it is without that view (actually going back in a few weeks and this time doubt we'll get that view). LOL yeah that wallpaper..its a strange thing of loving places like that but also not..part of the historic charm. We have another favorite historic hotel out by us that has similar wallpaper.

Glad you enjoyed the Murray. I was part of the construction crew that built the basement under the existing structure and the upper pool and deck areas during the winter of 2000-01.

We debated about traveling to Michigan for our trip this year and Mackinac Island was a place I wanted us to go, but I wasn’t prepared enough to decide what to do about parking and the ferry…..how was that situation? Definitely looks like a nice place to go….i love hotels like this. Is there a lot to do within walking distance? I really haven’t looked up too much yet here since we didnt make it past Ohio this year. Happy you guys got to experience this. Michigan is one of the states on our bucket list.
I know you commented on the video about the parking, but yeah was not bad and there are a few options. It was a super nice place to go! and yeah, everything is within walking distance..you can of course rent bikes or take a carriage. Was surprised though at really how close things were though. It for sure is a great experience! There are so many more things in Michigan we want to do! Hope to do a road trip in the upper areas one day.

The "creepy" pictures are of my family linage. I find her attitude is rather critical and entitled. She wants everything cheap but elegant and new. No old photos for her. I'd love to linger on the old photos a bit but we are being taken around by a woman who appears not to understand.
So sorry you took our review the wrong way. We loved the hotel and rave about it ! So much that we are going back in a few weeks. We meant no disrespect to your family and sorry if it came across that way. Just not used to pictures like that being in a hotel but also loved the history of it. Was just trying to give an honest review because some people would not like that it’s not all new and we even said if that’s not your thing but we do love that. We do know people who only want new and modern and would probably complain then we know others that love old historic places like this, which we do love. Never wanted everything cheap but elegant. This hotel was perfect for us!
Like I said we are going back in a few weeks so will make another video showing the photos more for people and to show more of the history! Really are grateful for your family and the hotel they opened!
