  • Stay to the end to see my mistakes! In this video I show and tell you how I build a 2 foot by 4 foot (8sq ft.) closet inside a bedroom. I built this closet with standard 2x4 lumber and left an opening for a 32 inch pre-hung door.

    I am always impressed with a guy who is willing to show you he is human and makes sloppy mistakes like all of us... real life. We have all wanted to kick ourselves for not listening to our Dad's good advice: "Measure twice, cut once!" Common to be in a hurry and anxious to get the job done. Happened more times in my lifetime, than I want to admit. Good to know the fix as well. This is a guy with confidence. Only time I am not in a hurry, is when using a cutting tool. Learned that from my Dad as well. You only get one set of hands. Thanks for the video!

    I like to use a drop cloth over carpet- saves a lot of time on the shop-vac getting sawdust up. 👍 nice video

      @howtofixitworkshop  Před 3 lety +3

      I used 2 1/2 inch construction screws that have a star bit head. They're a gold color from Lowes or home depot

    nice video can I have all measurement

    • @howtofixitworkshop
      @howtofixitworkshop  Před 4 lety +5

      Hi, not sure how specific you would like. The measurements would probably vary by house. My closet is 4 feet wide, 24 inches deep, eight and a half feet tall and will have a 34 inch door.

    • @jimgill37
      @jimgill37 Před rokem

      Is 4’ x 2’ the insides of the closet space or is that the outsides of all the framing? Didn’t want to make it the frame and then make the closet too small for anything specific, but I wasn’t sure about all that. Thanks!

    • @howtofixitworkshop
      @howtofixitworkshop  Před rokem

      Hey Jimmy, I'm pretty sure 4x2 was the outside dimension

    Do you know why u need a 34 inch opening for 32 inch door...

  • @Marie.b

    disapointing- @ 3:24 we see you placing the outer right hand side piece of wood and then @3:44 we see you adding another board here facing the same direction (side of board facing us)but it's obvious some steps were missed because there is alot more boards going on there... one facing us for instance ... i cannot learn from that..disapointing

      Not sure, probably had to go at an angle due to space or length of the screws
