- 104 - Wave Period and Frequency
In this video Paul Andersen explains how the period is the time between wave and the frequency is the number of waves per second. Period is measured in seconds and frequency is measured in Hertz. Wave period and wave frequency are reciprocals of one another. After watching this video you will be able to determine the period (and therefore the frequency) using a position vs. time graph of a wave.

Everyone's talking about their finals or whatever but I'm here because of my online classes while quarantine
sameee
Same!
Same im so confused on this help me
same
factss
pov: you have a frequency test tomorrow and you've just been playing video games during physics class
No need to call me out bro 🙈
@@Mmm_chaos LUL
Ha jokes on you, I'm doing the test rn
shhhhhh
Physics sounds scary... (Im here for Alg 2 btw)
Nobody can explain things better then this guy
I'm in a grad program for speech pathology and this video helped me understand concepts that my professor couldn't communicate thoroughly in two hours. Thank you so much!
Haven't been able to understand this for a full semester. A minute and 56 seconds into this video and now I have these concepts crystal clear. Idk who you are but ily.
Thank you!! I have midterms in a week and now I feel prepared because of your video
You are a very good teacher, simple explanation that captures everything
Thank you so much for explaining these relationships so clearly! I understand them now :)
Hi, just wanted to say thanks for this very clear explanation, it has really helped me to grasp the basics of the relationship between wave period and freq, I hadn't seen your previous videos but will deffo be checking them out to see if there's any other topics I need to understand better for my coursework. Especially if you have any Algebra vids. I was doing fine with Mathematics until the alphabet got involved...
I am studying towards a degree in Computing and IT with Open University (studying from home with lectures online). I have no school qualifications, but I'm doing OK so far. One of the compulsory modules of the degree is to choose between 'Discovering Mathematics' and 'Essential Mathematics', essential mathematics is a follow up to A-level students here in UK and was way too advanced for me so I started Discovering Mathematics - I wasn't prepared for mathematics to be such an important part of the computing course before hand so have been thrown in at the deep end before I can swim in regards to the mathematics side of things.
Anyway I have been doing alright, but one of my assignment questions has asked something like: to calculate the period of a Sine wave when given the frequency, and to then half the result (period) and explain/calculate what then happens to the frequency.
Your video gave me a clear insight and cool visual explanation of it all with the light bulbs and really helped so want to say a big Thank You!
Thank you so much for explaining this with videos of waves to see what it physically is, it makes much more sense!
What you did in 4.89 minutes (approx.) is what takes a period of 4 days. Awesome explanation sir👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
couldn't be easier than this video to learn about frequencies. Thank you
The final is tomorrow, so thank you. my teacher just sort of stopped teaching
you have literally saved my life. I have an exam tomorrow and I dint understand the relation between period and frequency.thank you for helping me understand this concept.
You explained this perfectly, thank you!
Have a Physics Exam Tomorrow and this helped a lot, Tysm
Wow... thank you so much. I just learnt the most challenging topic on tomorrow's test in 5 minutes
Perfectly explained! Thank you!
I love this man and how well he explained this
Excellent stuff. Cleared up any confusion. 👍👏👏👏
This was very helpful. Thank you.
Thank u sir 🥺I really needed this
Your awesome! Great teaching Skills
Thank you I had hard time getting my mind around this topic until now.
Excellent explanation, very helpful
My final exam is in 1 day. This man just saved my life.
very helpful. thanks dude
i wish this guy was my physics teacher , in fact for all my subjects lol. you make it so easy. thanks
Will you explain Fourier transform or any simillar subject from "difficult physics"?
Thankyou so much this was extremely helpful :)
great video you just helped a student in switzerland
Wow man, tanks a lot, i like this channel.Have a nice day
just what i needed thank you great video
Thank you so much! I just could not grasp this the way my teacher was teaching us. The flashing light bulb really helped.
This video was awesome. Thanks alot
this is extremely helpful and thank you
Thank you so much, sir. It means a lot fr such expressions. Keep teaching us.
Thanks man ur a life saver I have a test u saved me
THANKS for the information I Got from this Video
Thanks for making this so easy to understand!!
Help me please help I'm stuck
You just made my physics exams easier. Thanks :)
DAMN, MY FINAL IS TOMORROW THANKS TO THIS DUDE WHO SAVED MY LIFE
Amazing video man!
thanks for the video it was really helpful
Omg u are a life saver i love u
Very good explanation
This was so helpful! Thank you.
Help me please help I'm stuck
Thank you for the examples, this was a welcome and helpful refresher!
very helpful and easy to understand
يا لبى قلبك . thank you very very very much
thank buddy ......this vid is really helpful
thankyou so much this helped me a lot, especially now there is a pandemic and we are doing modular instead of online class. We are studying by ourselves.
Great explanation thanks
super cool and helpful so wait is this for all waves? does it apply to sound as well as light? or are there other rules for sound waves ?
Yes, It was helpful, Thank you.
Very good video.
You have almost 1Million subscriber!
Thanks, man I understand clearly
thank you for making me understand this in 5 minutes while my teacher couldn't even teach me this in 3 days.
Thanks ,Another important part that I wanted to know is which is more powerful,a short wave or a long wave, and does length affect the speed? Are there any good applications for the slower, weaker wavelength, whichever that one might be?
You just helped my kid! Thank you! 😁
So on successive waves i can use the trough on one wave and the trough on the next wave to calculate the period ?
veery helpful! thank you!
Thank you so much this video helped
thx for this vid it was explained in a simple way but i got so much
Help me please help I'm stuck
man you helped me a lot with my physics homeowkrd
Thank you, helped alot !!!
That was very helpful
Very helpful !!
Love this man
very very helpful thanks
You really help me thanks
Help me please help I'm stuck
LEGEND, thanks!
Perfect. Thanks
Thank you sir!
Nice video sir
Thank😊❤you it was helpful
if the period of a tone is in milliseconds, is it still 1 divided by that number? In other words, is it always 1 divided by the period or is T in seconds?
THIS SAVED ME
Sir, Awesome!
helpful!
This lesson hit me emotionally 😭
What exactly is period of a sine wave? When we describe it on an axsis, will the period be 2pi Second or 2pi Radian?
Thank you.
good stuff ty.
Good teaching
Nice and simple, thanks! Reviewing for Fourier analysis course.
Sometimes you forget the little things :-D
Agreed. One thing is just the rule, (Simple! it's just the inverse!), but you have to keep what that does clearly in your mind to grok when you need it in context. Otherwise it's a useless rule you can't implement, or it becomes just a "trick" when you use it in equations. Regards.
thank you!
so a period is the time in between waves right? Or is it the time taken for a full oscillation?
Thanks bro!
Thanks a lot sir
Great explanation for the RSGB Intermediate exam.
Amazing
i am studying in STD 8 and was just here to study a bit during quarantine
from india
But this concept is in class 9th
@@workshopsupdtt8196 i have it in 7th tho..
*mindblown*
Did anyone else's head explode at the end?
mine!!
It exploded like a nuke
Average Joe
Mine
Mine too exploded
Thank you bro
