i was so looking forward to him becoming a commentator, his commentary is far better than most of the commentators. heather was really good on commentary too. they could have made a perfect commentary duo.
I feel like they have to. Unlike CTM, CTWC has a set timelimit since its at a convention. On top of that, players have only gotten better since last year, so more games are gonna last longer. They either need to make the bracket smaller or have superkillscreen.
@@ralphismyname4940I mean for time it still shouldn’t be much of a problem last year they were allowed 7 extra hours so still the only reason is balancing the game
@@ralphismyname4940 I really hope that they don't, it feels like it cheats the players who are 'too good' - the ones who've put the time and effort in to be THAT good, and be able to keep focus for that long. :\
@@ChristopherLaHaiseI disagree. It gets more interesting like this. The way it is now it's all about stamina and that's pretty boring. It's like watching a marathon. It's more fun to watch a sprint. So if there is a actual limit of possibilities, then you really really have to consider how risky you play. Because you need maximum points until the absolute kill screen. The games I watched last year were: No matter if you played twice as good with hundreds of thousands of points advantage, the other dude was just digging half an hour with single lines until he won. That actually made me stop watching Tetris because it's so boring and exhausting. I am waiting for a limitation since then. This game got broken to the max. Which is fun for documentations on tv but not for hours of watching boring single line digging on super speed.
Rest in peace Jonas, you'll always be missed! BOOM TETRIS FOR JONAS!
RIP to the legend, absolute legend!❤
And boom Tetris for Jeff

Damn you Jonas. The tournaments aren't the same without you

I'm glad this is still going strong!! Good luck for this year's contestants! Cant wait!!!!
I wonder if they're going to have the superkillscreen on Level 39 like there was in the Mega Masters Championship.

As a player I hope there is level 39 killscreen lol
We miss you Jonas! I hope Joseph Saelee is doing well. He disappeared without a trace.
Joseph is busy with other stuff in his life, he’s just not into Tetris rn, he still posts often on his lifting account on Instagram
@@hideri87 Joseph just couldn't figure out rolling. Hypertapping just won't cut it anymore.
Imagine Joseph comes back as a roller and takes back the championship from dog or Eric
Really hope I can make it out this year. Gl y’all!
literal chills. can't wait. LFG!!!!
Rest in peace, Jonas.
His greatness was not skill. It was from being herald of competitive Tetris.
Miss you Jonas...
Can't wait.
Boom tetris for Jonas😢❤
*We all know that Tetris time is the best time!*
Boom!
LETS GOOOOO!!!
Jonas. Pure class, pure legend
HUGE CONGRATS TO FRACTAL!!!!!
I know this is a random question, but: Why did the trophy shape change from the T piece to the L piece?
It's the J piece, in honor of Jonas Neubauer, the 7-time CTWC champion who passed away in 2021.
@@MonthlyTetris Ah! Alright, I assumed there was a reason, but I didn't realize the reason went this deep. Very wholesome. Thanks for answer!
@@liborkundrat185 It was unveiled at the 2021 CTWC Finals.
Jonas's wife, Heather Ito, gave a speech.

It will be in portland again this year
Rip Jonas
RIP Jonas, such a loss
hype
Let's go cheese!
Such a shame Joseph gave up on tetris
He did? Why?
@@thirdsupernova Joseph did not give up, he was busy with college
agreed even with hypertap iam sure he could make it to top 8 specially if they implement a superkillscreen
If you think you're a nerd, think twice
boooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Where is joseph and koryan this is not like anymore 😢
