PUTTY CAMOUFLAGE EFFECTS - "HOW TO" GUIDE FOR MODELLERS

  • A video guide showing how to use Panzer Putty, Blu Tack (or White Tack) and Wilder Takk for your model camouflage effects - when applied as a mask and over-sprayed with an airbrush.
    Please note! They are not the same! Panzer Putty settles down over time and conforms to details. It can be snapped or pulled gently, depending on the force you use. It dries harder than Silly Putty. Silly Putty is generally softer and more homogenous. It cannot be snapped and we find it is best used for simple wavy camo schemes. Unlike Panzer Putty, you cannot make strong strands that bed down over details so successfully. Similarly, the more you handle it, the warmer it gets and the softer it becomes. Blu Tack, or any adhesive tack, is also useful but tends to be harder and less gentle on detailed parts or photo etch. Wilder Takk is somewhere in between Silly Putty and household tack.
    Watch them all in use on a Tamiya Char B1 Bis and a AFV Club Sdkfz.251/9 both in 1/35th scale. Why not try out this handy airbrushing technique?
    Panzer Putty is one of a host of products available from Historex Agents at www.historexagents.com/yt. Get some putty today! Wilder Takk, meanwhile, is available from airbushes.com.
    Please mention this review if buying!
    Enjoy!

    On eBay and Amazon you can buy science putty which is EXACTLY the same thing. I have both Panzer Putty and science putty. The science putty is less than half the price and has exactly the same properties. You do get less product in the science putty but is more than enough to do camo. Just trying to save you guys money. Shop around.

    I've heard that contact cement is good for masking paint when painting on a canvas Because it can just be peeled of and applied with a brush. Do you think that it would be good for painting scale models?

    Panzer putty is a luxury but is clearly better than tack or silly putty. I'm hoping to find some cheap at a show

    How does paint affect the putty for future reuse? Ie can you use it again once painted?

      @scalewarmachines  Před 5 lety

      Yep will do in a future video. Some are mentioned in our video on Johnsons Klear but we need to review the latest version called Pledge Floor Care Finish. In the US it was known as Future?

      Scale War Machines Im from Germany and theres no pledge and no johnsons klear so it would be interesting wich varnishes are available

      I live in Sweden and after looking around and experimenting I came to the conclusion that almost any product to give a gloss coat to laminated floor/stones works. Especially the Johnson range. They consistency might be gluky and have a tint of colour but be brave and use it because it works!

      If you can get Alclad 2 aqua clear gloss it works awesome and is water clean up as well. In my latest CZcams video on the Spitfire you can see it for yourself.

      @@jakobp8020 look around your local shops for alternatives and try them. I used a product for putting a shine on floors and was every bit as good as future. Plus it had a lot very cinammon smell too.

    I also found that you can get intelligent silly putty which had the exactly the same properties as panzer putty buts it’s half the price!

    Hi. Interesting you didn't say if the paint left on the blue tack or the silly putty was absorbed like it is on the Panzer Putty. I have used my Panzer putty numerous times, and the over spray Is completely gone. Can't imagine that with the blue tack , have you been able to check that..?
    As for seeing the full weathering, yes please .☺ regards .John .

    • @scalewarmachines
      @scalewarmachines  Před 5 lety +1

      The Silly Putty absorbs paint over time and yes absorbs it into itself - it may get darker or change colour as a result. But like Panzer Putty, it is absorbed. The Blu-Tack products just get marbled with the colours and don't absorb it the same way.

    Why is everyone afraid to use a paint brush for base coat and camos?
