      Erm... not that I *don't* enjoy ADV China, The China Show, China Fact Chasers, Laowhy86, or SerpentZA, but isn't it in poor taste to say "I'm demonetising this video, so here's a sponsor!" ? Especially when the content of the video is so grim? I mean hey, money's money and dudes gotta make ends meet somehow. Nevertheless, kind of a sour taste in my mouth considering how this isn't the first time you've "demonetised" a critical video, but still kept the sponsorship.

    When I was in Beijing, one of my Chinese friends got stabbed by a guy with a hypodermic needle on the train. He said it was common there, because poor rural folks were "donating" their blood on a monthly basis for money to feed their families, and many get AIDS from the procedure. This is due to the reuse of needles, and a practice of combining the blood of multiple donors in one receptacle where the platelets (red blood cells) are separated from the serous fluid, which is injected back into the donors so they can increase the frequency of blood harvesting. If one donor in the bunch has AIDS, then others get it too, because everybody's serous fluid gets pumped back into each donor. Those who contract AIDS through this practice are often overwhelmed with bitterness and rage--to the point of wanting others to have their disease. So they fill a syringe with their own contaminated blood and stab people with it in the urban centers on the subways. Fortunately my friend tested negative, but he still had to give a statement to the police about the incident, the nature of which they were already familiar with because of how common it is.

      Chinese have been ruled by cruel dictatorship and strict surveillance over1000 years. They are full of anger but rarely have the courage to resist the government. So they vent their anger on innocent people, thinking that others don't help them.
      Westerners don't understand how cruel it is. Let me tell you. If Chinese ancient emperors were angry with a person, they would kill his three clans (the immediate families of his father, mother and wife), or nine clans (family of his father, mother and wife's and the family of 2 generations above them). An emperor in Ming Dynasty killed 10 clans of a scholar and all his students.
      Then How ancient Chinese gov control its people? If a person commited a crime, then his family/neighbor will share the same crime with him bcz they didn't report.
      Of course China CCP wont kill as ancient China but nearlly do the same. If a Chinese dare to rebel or revenge the gov, CCP will kill or imprison him, and his wife, parents, brothers and sisters will lose job, and his children cannot receive education. And CCP also encouarge Chinese snitching in the name of patriotism. This is why Chinese do not trust each other. They are afraid that acquaintances will report.Chinese youths usually report their teachers for inparting western toxic knowledge.

    There was a time when Africans were evicted from their appartments, hotels by chinese officials and you would see black people sleeping on the streets for months. You would see an African couple who's wife was pregnant being denied medical care by every chinese hospitals. You would see some chinese locals helping most of these African foreigners by providing them food, water and blankets. Many of them tried to flee China but airports were flooded, flights were delayed, passports were confiscated, the situation was so bad that African leaders and embassies had to intervene. You would see one of the ambassador of an African country who was in china at that time, scolding these chinese officials to give him back all the passports that were confiscated. There was even a protest somewhere in Africa against chinese foreigners who resided in their country. Bottom line is, if there's news about a country where people are fleeing from it, that's a clear indication of how bad it is, like Kim Jong Un bad

    I followed your advice and went to Taiwan for a month, it is AMAZING. Borrowed a small bike and ridden up and down the island. Amazing Chinese and indigenous history, great people, beautiful nature and oh, the islands! I think Lanyu might be my favorite place on Earth. I encourage everyone to go! If you don't ride a motorcycle, just use the dense public transport network. High speed rail will take you across the island in 4 hours. Also, get SIM with unlimited internet at the airport. It cost pennies and outside Taipei, few people speak English, but they are all very patient and happy to speak through a translator (oh and there is high speed 5G everywhere). I'd camp in a jungle with 100MBit internet.

    I flew via Shanghai airport once. At the gate into the departure lounge a European family in front of me was in trouble. The kid had gone back to get a candy out of a vending machine and the official wasn't letting him through. "Too late!" The father was saying "But we are right here. It takes five seconds to let him through. We are going to miss our flight. What are you doing?" And the official stood on his podium thingy, so he could stand taller and said "I am the boss here. You do what I say. You don't talk back to me." It was the ugliest piece of power-tripping I've ever seen. Sickening. I was in another line, and when I got to the counter my official (a woman) was squawking at me angrily. I couldn't understand, and she got louder and angrier until someone behind me translated it (I think it was English but I couldn't make head or tail of it). And the departure lounge stank of shit. Reeked. That will be my one and only China experience for this lifetime. Apart from Serpentza's shows that is.

    I live in Beijing, and have had quite a lot of experience with the Chinese medical system. I had to abruptly make many visits to the emergency department, both before and after I was put on the social insurance system. Although you do have to pay out of pocket when you have insurance, the fee is quite small. It was about 100RMB without it, and 20 with it, to see a doctor to get a rough diagnosis in the emergency ward. You then need to pay for blood tests, etc. Basic tests were about 100RMB, and the more sophisticated cost more. You need to pay for everything before you receive treatment/diagnosis. I received a CT scan without insurance for about 500RMB, within 30 or so minutes or requesting it in the emergency department. I also received an MRI within the same day of requesting it, which cost about 1500RMB without insurance. The insurance typically doesn't cover the cost of medication or IV fluids, which I had to pay for many times. I received surgery and had to pay a ~30,000RMB deposit before being admitted into the hospital, however the final cost of the surgery was about 7,500 RMB after insurance.
    Apparently the average salary in Beijing is about 90,000 RMB a year, but averages aren't a good indication of what the typical person on the street earns (the median is much better, and certainly a lot lower). So yeah the health care is very cheap if you're on a good salary in China. But I really struggle to see how some people, particularly all the delivery drivers and taxi drivers making around ~30RMB an hour or less, could afford it in an emergency. I was in one of the nicer public hospitals in Beijing, perhaps others would be cheaper. There are also foreign hospitals where the staff speak good English, but they aren't covered by the public system.
    I'll say I am quite impressed with the system able to handle so many patients with such short waiting times. However the emergency portion of the hospital has it's.. quirks.. It's quite filthy, unhygienic, and (typical of China) the restrooms reek of cigarettes. The chairs beside the blood test room have cotton tips with blood on them littered around the place. People sleep on the floor on cardboard boxes, if they were unable to rent some little canvas stretcher beds.
    Once checked in to the surgery ward, my experience was a lot better. It's much cleaner, the hospital food is actually pretty decent, and the staff seem quite professional. I think the experience there would be roughly equivalent to any public hospital outside of China. However the hospital provided clothes are cheap as heck, and have a "striped pajamas" look to them.. somewhat amusing I thought.

The more liberal we have become in the West, the worse our society is becoming, in just about every way imaginable. In places like China, and others with very little freedom, things are worsening for different reasons.
      Hey, how about we meet in the middle? The answer is simple, it's just that we have idiots that are somehow in power and have control. What a difference from when I was in China in 1990. Studied massage at a 2nd level hospital. It was explained that if their doctor at the first level hospital couldn't fix them, then the doctor was supposed to pay for the patient to go to a 2nd level hospital. However, the doctors didn't make that kind of money so the person had to pay to go to the 2nd level hospital. It was amazing to see the amount of mistakes that happened. I recall one boy whose broken leg was not set properly was brought to the hospital to correct the problem. So they did some massage and gave him some exercises rather than repairing/rebraking/resetting the bone. The people were stoic but not reacting like they are now in the video. I learned very helpful techniques but I had no desire to visit again. It was difficult being around people after the time I spent in China and talking with some clients I had that had been there 5 years before, they had the same reaction upon returning to the States.

    Here in America we have to pay $1600 a month for health insurance and if we take medication we have to pay for that as well. No discounts.

    • @isabeljanes8230
      @isabeljanes8230 Před 2 měsíci +1

      That is a ridiculous statement. Most Americans have insurance through their place of employment or through government programs. How much people pay for that insurance varies tremendously from quite a lot to virtually nothing. In any case, if you have medical insurance that is costing you $1600/month and you have no drug coverage (or discount), you are in an extremely small minority - possibly vanishingly small.
