  • Since I bought the Touran I was unable to adjust the height of the driver seat. The tutorials just show how to replace the complete ratchet assembly which sets you back 130€. So I decided to look further into it and try my hand at a mechanical repair. Computer scientist alert.

Hi Johannes. I am struggling with similar problem. Could you tell me do I have to disassembly whole seat first to reach adjuster part?

Remove 4 bolts to get the seat out.

Did you cut a hole for the copper or heat it a melt it in? I have used pieces of wire heated red and pressed into plastic parts to repair them. Doesn't look pretty but is quite strong.

A bit of both. Heated the copper by shorting 4 LFP cells into it while pressing it against the plastic in a vice. Also pre-drilled a grove. Not sure how long this will last to be honest but I'm glad the seat is no longer stuck in high position as I'm rather tall.

Did not show how to modify the copper to replace the broken plastics part?

Hi joannes , I have a similar problem, when you sit in the seat does it drop down , with this issue?

Do you think I could remove the broken part and put it back?

No, the prongs actually have a mechanical task. You need to replace it

@@EngineersFearWhere can I get one of these for an 2009 dodge calibre? Or one that would work with it
