My showfile seems to get stuck in a loop where the cues seem to all be stuck firing in a loop after i pause on reaper. Any ideas?

What does the timecode display show in EOS when doing this? It should pause the timecode if you only have timecode enabled on the external (not internal) source. If that is the case, then it is probably something in your cue stack itself.

This is a super common issue where you essentially have infinite recursion. Something is calling itself, so it calls itself again, so it calls itself again, so it calls itself again, so it calls itself again, etc etc until infinity. ETC really needs to fix it. Eos should be smart enough to terminate a process after a certain recursion depth.
To avoid it, just make sure nothing calls itself. Avoid stuff like this: A cue that executes a macro that starts a clock that fires the cue that fires the macro that starts the clock that fires the cue that fires the macro that starts the clock and on and on and on.
If you use my ETC Eos timecoding software, it won't let you create this loop under normal circumstances.

All this stuff is obsolete now. Alva Sequencer is free.

Not sure what you mean by "all this stuff" while Alva does provide some tools, it is not a panacea for all things timecode when it comes to lighting.
