Hey, Lee! New sucscriber here...great analysis about the "why" of things. I really appreciate your explanation of which notes are chord tones as opposed to those outside of the chord. I gotta work on my rakes (which you do well) because that's the secret sauce in making these licks sing. I'm going to dig into this lesson and learn them all. Awesome content, thanks!

What to play and when to play it. Most Importantly...TIMING! Not sounding like I'm struggling for that CALL and RESPONCE or sounding jerky! The perfect sentence! That Flow! You want it to sound always new and different. I know you understand. Thanks for asking! Much appreciated! 😎👍
Lick 2 or the BB King box is pattern 3 not pattern 2 in the minor pentatonic. Which overlaps with pattern 4 in the major pentatonic. BB king and others use that spot to mix minor and major. Pattern 2 of the minor pentatonic is the Albert King box and referred to as the house of blues.

HI THERE MY BLUESBREAKER MUSO MATES 😂 THANKS FOR THIS PODCAST,,,,,, err a bit random but checck out a song by John Mayall song 'BERNARD JENKINS theres a brilliant lick in there,,,, err the mixing of major and minor is for me crucial ,,,,, i mean i love Walter trout but Walter plays very fast but most of his stuff tends to play it straight, Walters minor type blues are Phenomenal by the way 😂 im not an expert and if im talkin a load a B-------CKS by way please let me know 😂 err if you are just beginer if you play your scale 3 frets down you are then IN THE MAJOR PENTATONIC,, and you need to mix it up for classic blues where the major 3rd s in there,,,,, i use,,, tinker with the Aeolian Dorian mixolidian and Diminished modes as well as the PENTATONIC 😂 err before i bugger off ROBIN TROWER IS IN HOLMFORTH IN MAY ❤ I LOVE ROBIN TROWER ❤ much love from all at Warrington blues club (err check out DANNY GATTON if you don know him) ❤
Rather than a raised 6th the Dorian mode has a b3 and b7. Natural minor has b3, b6 and b7 and harmonic minor has b3 and b6 with natural 7th. An MA in Jazz makes me a bit of a theory nerd! 😬😉 Great licks, thanks for your excellent demonstration!

@@mbrownie22 No it isn't. You can't have a 6th and #6 in the same scale. The 6th is never reffered to as #. It's either a Major 6th or minor 6th (b6)or it's compound intervals - 13th and b13th.
Wowsers... I been playing for over fifty years, earned a bunch of dollars on stage and have no idea about what you just related about the 6th Dorian whatever. I barely know chords. I wish I could be more knowledgeable about the musicality of playing guitar only I just mostly learn cover songs and play em out.

Yeah but you can use the thumb to grab that bass note from time to time, I don't care how it looks, I do care how it sounds
