- Pico island in the Azores (Açores) is the youngest of all the islands in the Portuguese archipelago, and the most volcanic of them all, dominating the nature and the way of life on this extraordinary island.
This is PART 2 of the Azores series, and this explores Pico's landscapes and treasures, including the scenic and gastronomic pleasures of Madalena, the majestic Mount Pico and the lava caves of Grutas das Torres. Ultimately, this goes in-depth with Pico's greatest treasure - a winemaking culture and tradition that's one of the most unique in the world, featuring the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site of Criação Velha, where most of the island's oldest vineyards are planted in labyrinthine lava walls, producing wines unlike anything you've ever tasted and experienced.

Very well said, Azores needs to be protected at all costs, not just by the Azoreans but by any one who loves natural beauty, safe daily living, clean environment & so on .... & by the ones like me who have seen first hand other paradises destroyed by greedy opportunistic wasteful humans who are just out to make a buck & care nothing for our environment & our animal friends .. I was born on majestic Pico island many years ago, it was-is the best place to grow up as a kid & I want those islands to be there as they are now for many future generations to enjoy them like I did,, This video makes me miss my true home very much cant wait to set foot there once again...
