- My Dad and I hunt Kodiak Island Alaska with Levi Morgan and the Bowlife crew for Sitka Blacktail. It's mid-October and we head to Old Harbor, AK for 5 days of chasing blacktails on the island for a trip we'll remember forever.
We each have 2 tags so check back next week to see Part 2!
If you're interested in doing this hunt I highly recommend using Jeff Peterson as your transporter!!!

Nice Hunt! Great shot your dad made on that 4x4. Yea, hiking in Kodiak is never easy and you are right, after the kill while your cleaning it, best to have someone watching for bear. That always makes me nervous. but we always just post somebody up. Meat is not so good to taste, but we usually have this nice lady downtown Kodiak by the Kodiak Hana that does it for us in Italian sausages.
That sounds awesome! We've been up there early enough in the year that they aren't rutted up and the meat was excellent. I like the sounds of Italian sausages with it; I'll give that a shot next time
Where is part 2?
First off, great job filming! I'll check out anymore videos you have because thus one was pretty well done. Subtle music. Camera isn't too crazy. Commentary isn't cringy. Editing is pretty good.
Second, 6 of us head to kodiak end of November. Quite the group we will have. 2 of us have been to alaska once before and are from utah. 2 are from Michigan and have never hunted rough country. 1 is from utah and hunted rough country. The last guy has never hunted in his life and only slept in a tent a few times. It will be a great experience for him to decide if he loves or hates the lifestyle.
Id be interested in some of the details of yalls hunt!
Thanks man! I appreciate it!
Kodiak is a heck of a fun hunt and I’m excited to hear how your trip goes! Do you have a guide/transporter that you’re working with on this? We hired Jeff Peterson with Kodiak Combos as our transporter to get us to different parts of the island by boat and it made for an incredible trip.
Best of luck up there this fall and be safe!!
@@reckoningmediaco we are headed out with Swoboda. It’s a boat based trip. I assumed yours was too. But it looks like it’s based out of a lodge.
Do you have a gear list that you took? I’d be interested in comparing it to mine. Anything you wish you had or hadn’t taken?
@@leatherowoutdoors8852 Nice! I just checked out their website and it looks like you're in for a fun hunt! We used the boat during the day and came back to a cabin each night, but sleeping on the boat would make for a cool experience.
I didn't have a gear list...I've done dozens of hunts like this over the years so I have a system in my mind. The biggest thing I'd remind you to bring is a pad to sit on while glassing (wet moss sucks), a good pair of gaiters, good optics, an inReach, and Dude wipes!
@@reckoningmediaco when we went up to the brooks we took wader pants and boots. But never needed them.
Did you take anything like that?
@@leatherowoutdoors8852 Didn’t take them nor need them for our hunt
More exciting than poaching on the neighbors! 😂 😂
Lol Dad finds joy in the littlest things 😂
Niiiiiiiiiiiiccce!!
