I'm an Arsenal fan & words can't tell you how disappointed i was in our fanbase at the end of last season. For 30 games, Partey was world class & irreplaceable. A few mistakes & suddenly he's "finished", crazy how everyone turned on him. We've stood by average players like Xhaka, Mustafi, Djourou, Denilson, Arshavin etc but can't wait to get rid of a world class player after just a few mistakes smh

Granted he had a great year last year but 1/7 years isn’t a great ratio. He is average, at best decent. Great is Patrick Vieira, Fabregas, Gilberto, Petit… If you think Xhaka has been good throughout his ENTIRE time at Arsenal, then you certainly didn’t watch out past legendary midfielders. Partey is very elegant but he was playing with an injury at the end of last season in a team that lost its way whereas Rodri started to perform really well when the business end started and city went on a big winning streak.

Rodri’s understanding of the game is second to none. The way he controls matches. Now he’s started adding more goals to his arsenal.
Not every Jim and Jack execute what Rodri does. I’m sure that’s why Arteta went on to get Declan Rice cause he needed someone different to try this role after he tried it with Partey numerous occasions.
Don’t get me wrong, Partey is quality, absolutely. But in football you have to get the basics right all the time. You have to use your intelligence/understanding and your technical abilities.

There was never ever talk of him being the best dm until the end of last season and that was also down to the fact that city won the treble. He could play for other teams but prime Partey from Atlético was far better than Rodri used to be under the same system and manager (Simeone). Rodri is also not that great in the Spanish team. Did Spain win any title of any significance in the last years with Rodri in the middle? No, they’re not even favorites. So how is that possible since you list Rodri as the main reason as to why City won the treble? Rodri is a very important player but the best players for City last season we’re KDB, Haaland and Gündogan who turned into Zidane 2.0 towards the end of the season.
