Does this Anker USB HUB serve as an extender? I'm needing a 25 foot run so I can work indoors. What I use now is only good for about 10 feet before i lose my cameras...Thanks

It doesn’t say anywhere about signal amplification. I’m going to have to say no. I’m not sure what Chuck, from Chuck’s Astrophotography, is using but he’s got some really long usb runs.

@@GarnettLeary I did find out one thing Garnett, my 16-footer was not the right type USB cable. I was told by one of my scope tech support guys that it should be what is called an Active USB, better performance and filters out interference, may be copper and shielded...Got it from Tether Tools. I use that on my Canon DSLR never had any issues...

Anker makes a excellent product. I will only use the wall chargers and charge cords for my phone. They last a very long time. I haven't used the hub or battery but I wouldn't hesitate to buy them to try.

Very helpful video Garnett. I've moved to EQMOD and am running out of laptop USBs for the mount and cameras.

I run strictly on AC current. I despise batteries. It’s one more thing I have to drag outside. I’ll likely convert to battery with solar backup after I build something permanent but yeah same. PC can only do so much.

Do you think the Anker power bank would be able to power a ZWO ASI662 camera? I'm looking for a portable power option that I can take out to dark sites. The camera unfortunately does not work through my laptop USB hub; I thought it may be a USB port default but it's seeming more likely that it's a power source issue.
    Thanks

Unfortunately no. The same issue occurs with your laptop. The camera draws too many amps. ZWO specifies as follows:
“You can use an AC-DC adapter, or a 9V-15V battery. And the connector must be a 2.1×5.5mm center positive standard. The red LED indicates that the external power supply works.”
The best solution I’ve found, not the most inexpensive, is a Jackery battery. The base line model is sufficient to run your camera all night. It’s currently just over $200 USD. I’ve ran my mount, dew heaters, cameras, and laptop off one for several years now. You may find cheaper alternatives, most I’ve probably tried, but ultimately most folks use these. I’ll put a link if you’re interested:
