Hi Lainie. A very introspective song of teenage angst. I think she was in her mid-20's when this was released. A big hit for her. Earlier she had another hit with "Society's Child". Nice to hear this song again. The '70's were good for a lot of artists and music!

I learned the truth at 17…that love was meant for beauty queens! That line stuck with me all my life…true but sad for many of us awkward skin hair height weight never got the experience our pretty little friends had. That was definitely my school life. Later in life things got better, but it’s a scar still😐💕

That was mean too and the thing is those who were the beauty queen probably felt the same too x

@@LainieReacts I wish that was true but my second half of school was in a small town and when i visit it, some of these people are worse. As they lost their looks they use material things to fool themselves they are better. Never fell for their delusions and luckily they never tried it and i'd have choked on the laughter if they did. They really are afraid of people who through their masks

Please react on Janis's song, a more recent one:
    She must be beautiful.
Thank you so much on bringing back those days when I was 17, I'm 61 now.
I had 5 albums of Janis Ian, played her records everyday while studying...

She's still making great records that are highly acclaimed. People forget how cruel kids can be and how remarks and being left out or ignored for school events crushed some people male or female. remember my best friend nearly suffering but schoolmates soon realised pick him or i'm out.softened the blows for him and he grew up better off in life than any of them but seen so many others be crushed by these sheep. guess the small towns in america were worse with the rich beautiful people thinking you are tomorrows hired help. Even worse if you are different looking by race or sexuality. i was unaware of being gay at school and thankfully missed what would have happened.

I have always loved Janis Ian and you are so right, this is a sad song. Would you please react to Meshell Ndegeocello "Good day bad"? czcams.com/video/Px5lhg3qG6E/video.html&ab_channel=LivefromHere (yes, Ive given up on you reacting to Grateful Dead for whatever reason)...
