  • Norway and the United States have long been close allies and NATO partners, but a growing crisis between Washington and Moscow is testing that relationship.
As NATO puts its forces on alert for potential trouble in Eastern Europe, Norway is also having to ready its armed forces.
With thousands of Russian troops amassed at Ukraine’s eastern border, are the parts heading into a full-scale war?
The Norwegian prime minister, Jonas Gahr Store, talks to Al Jazeera.

@@RobertsDigital at 13.30 has the PM said getting the major players to sit down to use diplomacy to resolve issues and finding solutions. War is no longer a solution if humanity wants to survive now. Getting the Taliban to sit down even though they are not recognized. The political process of now is not working. Without the first step of getting parties to the table then everyone moving forward and been a part of a winning solution humanity is doomed to repeat history of self annihilation. The non-west world, especially China/India, is rapidly catching up with the western world. The wealth the West so far has is due to poor science/tech around the world (who else could produce vaccines and airplanes?). It's an inevitable trend, and there is no way for the West to stop this trend: they can only become less and less relevant. What does NATO can do in this situation? Well, cause wars everywhere in non-western world..., to hinder their development.

It has nukes and economic levers and it can bully smaller countries, but the world doesn't need NATO to beat Russia. Ukraine joining NATO or not is about political allegiance -- will it move closer to American influence, or not? That is what Russia/America are upset about. The military aspect of it is theatre (until, perhaps by mistake, it stops being).

Whom Can We Trust If No One Is Trustworthy?
One of my favorite quips from Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is when Tom is defined as “a glittering hero…the pet of the old, the envy of the young,” and there were “some that believed that he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging.” With these few words, Twain captured the essence of leadership in our world. Those who get to the top are the fiercest, most determined, and most ruthless. Today, the latter quality has become so intense that we can no longer believe our leaders, and certainly not trust them to have our best interest in mind.
I am not accusing any leader in particular, or even leaders as a whole. It is simply that in an egoistic world, where people vie to topple one another on their way to the top, the one at the top is clearly the one who trampled over and knocked down more people than anyone else. Concisely, to get to the top in an egoistic world you have to be the biggest egoist.
So how do we know whom to trust? We don’t know and we cannot know. All we know is that we are in the dark.
In a culture of unhinged selfishness, any conspiracy theory seems reasonable, while truth is nowhere to be found. When every person who says or writes something is trying to promote some hidden agenda, you have no way of knowing who is right, what really happened, or if anything happened at all.
The only way to get some clarity in the news and goodwill from our leaders is to say “Enough!” to our current system and build something entirely independent. The guiding principle of such a system should be “information only,” no commentary. Commentary means that information has already been skewed. Information means saying only what happened, as much as possible, not why, and not who is to blame and who we should praise.
Concurrently, we must begin a comprehensive process of self-teaching. We have to know not only what is happening, but why we skew and distort everything. In other words, we have to know about human nature and how it inherently presents matters according to its own subjective view, which caters to one’s own interest. To “clear” ourselves from that deformity, we must learn how to rise above our personal interest and develop an equally favorable attitude toward others. This is our only guarantee that our interpretation of things will be even and correct.
Once we achieve such an attitude, we will discover that the bad things we see in our world reflect our own, internal wickedness. Our ill-will toward others creates a world where ill-will governs, and so the world is filled with wickedness and cruelty. Therefore, all we need in order to create positive leadership-and to generally eliminate ill-will from the world-is to generate goodwill within us. When we nurture goodwill toward others, we will fill the world with goodwill. As a result, the world will fill with kindness and compassion. By changing ourselves, we will create a world that is opposite from the world we have created through our desires to govern, patronize, and often destroy other people.

There are three hard core principals of Liberalism: Inalienable (absolute) Human Rights, Tolerance and Enforcing power, so called "The Night Watchmen State". Of cause the last is the USA with all military might. Is does not look bad for internal politics, if state decides to adopt it, but USA made it their personal Quest to make every country in the World to accept liberal values. They took that luggage of lunacy and travel to Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, pocking Russia and China with liberal ideas. If a State reject liberal values, USA uses its military might to regime change and after applies social engineering to change hearts and minds of locals. But local nationalism is way brutal and stronger then LGBT right or tolerance, or women right. Here is track record: destroyed Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, bad relations with Russia and China.

There would be dialogues and there would be some concessions from NATO albait minor... but what Putin can do is organize a NATO like alliance with China,North Korea, Iran and Venezuela, and may be Cuba... put defensive weapons there, like S-400/500, some troops and get permanent rights to harbour nuclear subs. Then the whole game changes. North Korea will come happyli in the alliance, and I see no reason Iran and Venezuela not joining this ... the only question would be will China nod to this??
It can, due to QUAD but will it? That is the question.
Unfortunately Biden has to increase the rhetoric from US side, his approval ratings are tancked.. he hopes to increase it with this conflict. but what it will do is that it will change the power balance in the world. The days of unipolar world ends now.

There's no need for an official alliance. Everyone's goals are different for the most part. In Syria for example Russia worked with Iran and Turkey just fine without any alliance, in fact Turkey is in NATO. You know, the way normal countries behave and work with others. EU and NATO members probably forgot how that works because they ether have to listen to other countries they are dependent on, or it turns into a huge argument and there is no good compromise. Like how UK got fed up with EU and left, or how Germany is being pressured to provide guns to Ukraine against their will right now.

I don't think China wants to join this alliance and fully antagonise the west. They are powerful enough on their own, and I don't think sheltering these smaller countries bring much benefit to them. China also has way more economic influence than russia so they would be impacted heavier if they were cut off from the western markets.

@@primoyz5608 u r partially correct. But will the west and nato/eu remain silent if it attack Taiwan?? Why west has formed AUKUS/Quad alliances against China?? It has a lot of motivation to join in an official alliance with russia and other countries... but the question is will it??

The only thing china wants from russia is it to be a puppet state.
