Poor Penelope! First her engagement party went amuck and now her wedding reception. 😢

Like I live for this episode.. it always makes my heart sore. Walking down the aisle to Yellow will never not move something inside of me. I go over and over watching Colin nod to her. 😊 And I like that they have fights both before and after these incredibly beautiful moments.❤

Cressida didn't even write that LW paper her mother wrote it for her because Cressida doesn't have the words like Penelope does! Cressida is a pain in the freaking butt!

Note that the Lady Whistledown issue in this episode was about injustices - giving voice to the voiceless.
I adore the scene the night before the wedding. I, too noticed that she was standing on the step above him so they were eye to eye, and then he stepped up when he was getting insecure about his writing, like he was trying to establish his manhood by making himself taller. And then at the end of the scene, as they are walking down the street, hand-in-hand, they LOOK like a married couple. That's why I was able to enjoy the wedding. It's obvious he still loves her and still wants her, even if he hasn't been able to come to terms with the fact that she is Lady Whistledown.
Regarding Lady Danbury staying even though everyone who is NOT a Bridgerton was dismissed doesn't come up to the level of that season 1 moment where Daphne and Simon were being all romantic in the rain at their end-of-season ball, and Lady Danbury dismissed everyone INCLUDING the queen. Obviously normal society rules do not apply to her. Of course, Brimsley and the queen's ladies all stayed, so I'm thinking that even if Agatha doesn't still actively serve, she's likely still an honorary queen's lady, since she's her best friend. At any rate, the queen obviously saw her still standing there and didn't say anything.
(This reminds me of something Prince Harry mentioned in his book, Spare. He mentioned that there was a lady-in-waiting to his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II that acted like she had way more power than she actually did because she would sometimes act as an intermediary between the queen and her family. She apparently has been like that his entire life, and was part of the problem of Meghan getting bullied by the whole Royal establishment. He felt he had to take it when he was a kid, but as an adult he realized that as a prince, even a spare one, he outranked her, so he didn't take her crap, and it added to the friction. At least fictional Lady Danbury is actually a nice person and uses her power for good...)
So there's like 50 years between Queen Charlotte and Bridgerton, and I think Lady Danbury was married to that horrible disgusting old rapist for like 10 years before he finally died. So she was holding that grudge against her brother for over half a century. Any bad behavior he did when he was a young man sowing his wild oats in his twenties probably just added to her low opinion of him. Emotional pain isn't logical. It's like how when someone finds out her husband has been cheating on her, she blames the other woman instead of her husband. HE'S the one who betrayed her, but she still has feelings for him, so it's easier to blame the other woman. Well, the people who destroyed Agatha's life were her father and husband, but she was never in a position where she could make them answer for it, so she places all the blame on the brother who had always been trying for her approval but never got it.

I think most people would agree that lady danbury holding that grudge against her brother is a bit left field given his age! I was also so taken aback when he said he was ten and that she has held that grudge against him for that long. After sitting with it for a while though i think its a very interesting plot device. It gives lady danbury a lot of humanity, and shows us that even the characters that are usually the most level-headed are sometimes not very sensible. Danbury usually does not let her feelings get the best of her, but this season we see a new side of her. It fleshes out her character, and reminds us that feelings of powerlessness can drive people to do and feel things that arent necessarily very fair or sensible. This season is so wonderful because it explores the powerlessness of women and their actions as a result in so many characters (Pen, Cressida, Danbury as examples).

It's funny to me that Anthony spent all his life taking care of the business and the estate, while Benedict and Colin lived the good life. Now, Anthony is going to be vacationing in India for a couple of years while Benedict takes care of the Bridgerton estate and Colin takes care of the Featherington estate lol. Maybe they can bond over working their asses off for the first time in ther lives.

Before I give my 2 cents, thanks for another lovely reaction!! You’re my favorite reactor around these days! 2nd, the second part of the season came out on my birthday, so I binged it on the day with 3 friends (4 idiots with minds more inclined to Saltburn than Bridgerton, but who watch it with no shame nor petulance… and who started watching it because of Nicola Coughlan and she still hasn’t disappointed!)
We ate pizza on the floor in front of the TV, drank Select Spritz (AMAZING!) and I got a 2 layer berry pavlova made by one of them as a birthday cake. We had a blast!
YEEEAAASSSS Anna!!! I think you’re the first I’ve seen mentioning that neither Colin nor Eloise stopped to sit with Pen and try to understand. I don’t know if you agree with this part, but they’d known her, they know she’s considerate, kind, a good person and she’s their friend (at least) so she should have been given the benefit of the doubt.
Although I 100% understand the need for honesty (which is probably why I’m still single at 33 😂), there’s a thing I’ve been struggling with in this story: lady Whistledown is Pen’s thing, why do these Bridgertons feel so entitled to it. Everyone had secrets in this time. The Bridgerton family has always been one of the best ones pictured through the years (even Queen Charlotte says here, that LW loves the Bridgertons), Eloise admired her for her wit and courage to put all those people in their place and calling them out… what she said about Colin was SO MILD (and true!!) compared to him saying publicly and mockingly that he’d never court her, as if she was “undateable” or unworthy of any romantic attention. Why the F does he take it as such a betrayal?? Lady Whistledown is not about him!! It’s her thing, he happened to be mentioned once in a more daring way… two sentences in a 3-4 page column! No one else mentioned it, he kept on having all those women swooning around him and his threesomes at the brothel 🤷🏽‍♀️ I also believe that Nicola plays her in such a layered way, that keeps us on our toes!! Pen’s not simple!! Pen’s innocent and not innocent at all, naive but clever, etc… 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Nicola!
And reflecting on your question in the beginning, if we would really not give up the column if we were living in that time… I would hope so but maybe I wouldn’t be able to, which tells me how powerful it is that Pen sticks to her guns! As a 33 year old single career woman in a field in the arts (classical musician), I couldn’t see myself giving it up for a partner… Financial independence was the big problem women had then! If I made Lady Whistledown money like that back then, I’d prefer not marrying and having a Danbury kind of life. she still had romantic love in her life and maintained a good reputation and social status!! That said, of course I want Pen and Colin together, I just hope he learns some things about women and the world and worships her instead of telling her she entrapped him (other that the kiss, he was the one who initiated all the physical contact between them and she mostly had no idea exactly what was happening!)
Thanks again for your reactions and it was fun hearing you mention House of Dragons. I’m based in Vienna Austria (from Portugal though) and I’ve played in that soundtrack. I’ve also recorded for Kris Bowers, the composer of Bridgerton. 🥰

@@AnnaAlexanderAuthor thank youuu, for the birthday wishes :) animation sounds like a lot of fun too though!! I can’t believe you look 35 and are talking about your youngest going to study!! About my work, oh well! Good and bad days like everything, it’s clearly a field still recovering from the pandemic, but it’s an awesome job when the stars align :)

Hello! I've been looking for this email forever up reply.
I don't know the color because the print is so tiny, but it's a sample from Kylie in their liquid format. Then I dabbed the gold shimmer from Buxom in the middle. Hope that helps 🤗

Why they never have a true conversation about it…. Because the show writers wanted to string along the drama for as long as possible 😡 & I think many who’ve complained about part 2 would be with me, that the writers took it too far. Even though the Queen comes & puts a damper on things, that I’m sleeping on the couch but should not have happened. The Cressida & Queen threats are enough going into the last episode. For the most part, I like how they give Pen so more agency in the show BUT they are always sacrificing Colin’s character to do it. Post-wedding he should have been clearly on Team Penelope (even if he still hasn’t fully accepted LW). This is how it was in the books

18:46 Her brother's excuse is that he was 10 years old...........No.
If he was like five or six years old yeah, not at ten. Kids notice a lot of things, and they KNOW a great deal what is going on around them. For example at four years old I found out some s*** that I flat out knew right then and there what it was. At eight years old I knew that DV happens to married women. I notice and KNEW a lot of "stuff" long before I was 10.
He said "You were trying to escape" (he KNEW she was trying to escape) then he said "I had no concept of what you were running from"
Oh really? So he took it upon himself to stop her and turn her in, to their dad. He knew she was trying to escape and didn't even bother to ask her why?
He also said something like "I knew the world was not a safe place for young ladies" So he knew the world was not a safe place for women but he did not notice that Lady Danbury (who was still a kid at the time) is being forcibly married to an old fossil, old enough to be her grandfather? And he did not notice she didn't want that? Never occurred to him that was the reason she was trying to escape?
So supposedly trying to "protect" her as was his claim. What he actually did was helping the predator trap the prey in this case in marriage. He condemned Lady Danbury to endure decades of marital 🍇 and who know what else.
When she could have been freed, when she was so close to escaping.

Pen's excuses for writing about Colin were a bit gross. She was lashing out at him because she was angry, hurt and jealous, but as you said, that is the sort of conversation that should be kept between the two of them. The conversation they did have about it was great, but also soured by her initial response. She wants him the way she wants him, and didn't like that he changed, yet she's never once bothered to ask him why. Him believing that she lacks respect for him is completely understandable. I know she's a gossip, and a fundamental lack of consideration for other people's feelings and privacy is a given, but he was her friend for a long time. He always protected her, and saw her when nobody else did. What happened in 2x08 sucks, but one incident shouldn't negate all those years. Besides, Pen's intentional, pre-meditated, public attack on him was much worse than Colin's one-off, spur-of-the-moment comment to a limited number of people. All their conversations in S3 have been primarily focussed on her, largely because she let him believe he needed to earn back her friendship, when she'd already gotten her petty revenge. Her crush on him may have been one-sided in the first two seasons, but their friendship never was, until this season. Whether it's because the writers listened to all that toxic, entitled nonsense people kept saying about wanting to see Colin grovel, which is really gross, or for some other reason, that does not make for a healthy dynamic. I mean, she wanted him so badly for so long, but now that she has his love, she cares more about her ego? She'd really choose trashy gossip over the life she could have with him? Really?! Also, you were spot on about Eloise and Colin loyally keeping Pen's secrets, no matter how hurt and angry they were about them. Which is kind of ironic, since Penelope herself has little respect for anyone else's secrets.
