    TTArtisan sent me this to review
    I generally avoid recommending lenses that fall on the cheaper side. Typically they have a shoddy build quality and glaringly bad image performance. Come to my surprise when I got my hands on the TTArtisan 35mm f/1.4 lens for APS-C/Crop Sensor cameras, it was quite usable at only $73 USD!

    Very well produced video! I'm doubting on wether to buy this lens, because I already have sony 16-50 mm f/3.5-5.6. I know the f/1.4 (or even 2.8, being sharper) is benefitial, but I don't know if I should spend almos $100 when I can already explore 35mm (which, between 16 and 55m, I think is now my favorite focal distance). Also keeping in mind that my lens has AF and OSS.

      Hi! I'm not sure if you've already bought yourself a faster lens but don't overthink the autofocus and OSS! At 35mm, handheld can be reasonably smear-free still at the right shutter speeds and manual focus can be rewarding. A faster lens (wider aperture) gives you so much creative control that it's worth it in my opinion. I was in your shoes but ended up getting a manual 50mm f1.1 lens and I have not switched back since.

    Thanks for making this Brian. Have been contemplating using this and getting a used Fuji xe1 to try and simulate old film pix on street. What you think?

    • @BrianCho
      @BrianCho  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Sounds like a sweet street photo setup! I've been thinking about a combo like this too. The TTArtisan 35 is such a compact lens, carrying it around wouldn't be a problem at all.

      @@BrianCho thanks a bunch for your advice! Best of luck with your work in NY! I have been watching a bunch of stuff from Paulie B. And the NY street photo scene trying to learn. Maybe you can connect with follow Korean John Wha. 😊

    hello, great vid by the way. What camera did you use?

  • @sayankarmakar9227

    Hey, Sayan this side I have one question. Actually I am a student and just got one second hand fuji camera. Now I want a lens for night time videography. I am also an artist who posts various videos. I have a few lights and as I have my college during day time coming and drawing at night is kind of relaxing but can't record as my current lens has 2.8 f stop.
    I am planning to buy one lens that will give me the liberyof shooting some film footage for my job and also those of my artworks during night. so which f stop would be a better option for me a0.95 or a 1.2 or a 1.4.
    I actually don't have a lot in my pocket and at Max can just buy one lens. So if you can help me a bit would be great. Lots of love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳

    • @BrianCho
      @BrianCho  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi Sayan. 0.95 and 1.2 lenses are notoriously hard to focus and typically produce soft images. Unless if your 1.2 lens has autofocus I'd stick with a 1.4 lens.

    i have this lens. no complains. image quality is good and sharp. everything is good.
    but the focal length is not for me. too tight, and not enough depth that i need.
    But i would recommend anyone else if they want to have a 50mm equivalent as their starter.

  • @harrysharma1

    Is this lens a prime lense ?

    • @stantheman1976
      @stantheman1976 Před 6 měsíci

      Prime just means the lens does not have zoom. It's a single, fixed focal length, which this lens is.

    • @harrysharma1
      @harrysharma1 Před 6 měsíci

      @@stantheman1976 okok, so prime is better?

    • @stantheman1976
      @stantheman1976 Před 6 měsíci

      @@harrysharma1 prime is not better or worse. It depends on what you are shooting. If you're doing anything where you'll need to get closer to your subject and can't physically move closer you'd need a zoom of some type. It's one of those situations where there is no right or wrong answer. Prime and zoom are just lens types. There are literally thousands of each.

    Hi Brian,
    Just wondering to see if this is compatible with Sony A7iii ?

    • @BrianCho
      @BrianCho  Před 8 měsíci

      It is compatible! It will be slightly cropped since this lens is intended for APS-C sensors.
