I would recommend some locations to visit in New Zealand near Queenstown - Christchurch. a) Lake Wanaka - The wanaka tree b) Cromwell - Fruit Picking (during Summer) - there is like 27 type of cherries and only 1 is export. c) Mt Cook Village - Hooker Valley Walk (3 hrs walk - best day walk in NZ) d) Lake Tekapo - Mt John Observatory + Church of Good Shepherd e) Fairlie - Pie Flight from Queenstown and Fly back via Christchurch. Car rental also allow for pick up in Queenstown and drop in Christchurch. Something out of the way: a) Milford Sound - cruise (winter for best experience) b) Bluff - southern part of NZ with a pole c) Dunedin - Larnach castle, Baldwin Street (steepest street in the world), Dunedin Railway.
