  • Welcome to Jason Does Things!
Today I took a road trip up to Venice Beach (aka GTA Beach) while my family went shopping (and no, I didn't feel like shopping lol).
I brought along the Minelab Manticore and my CKG Pro Scoop and headed north toward Santa Monica, working along the tide line and occasionally up through the towel line.
I established a coin line in the wet sand and followed that until the targets became sparse and then focused mainly on the dry sand areas while continuing north.
It was really fun stopping at the Venice skate park and watching the people skate for a bit before again heading north. I ended up going so far north that I nearly reached the Santa Monica Pier by the time I got picked back up by my family, and it was a good thing they did, as my legs were really getting tired.
I ended up finding a variety of jewelry including a beautiful ring and several earrings, as well as some other interesting treasures.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy the hunt! Thanks for coming along and until next time, Happy Hunting!

I've been detecting the Santa Cruz beaches with the M9 coil on the Manticore with excellent results.
I found an iPhone 14 pro 18 inches deep in wet sand.
Have you found any Mysterious Treasure Boxes yet? Apparently, someone is leaving them for detectorists to find, haha

Seems a bit strange how you name what each item is before you see it or dig it up. Down to your last dime you dug. You called it too. hmmmm. Especially when you called for a key, then dug two up about two hits later and naming the pull tabs and tent stakes before you even saw them. Never saw anyone able to do that in years of watching and digging myself.

@@jasondoesthings I am only saying, how do you know what's down there unless you know? I can't tell you what I am going to dig up before I dig it so how can you? I have a Garrett 400. Just strikes me as very strange for you to be right almost every time. Not natural. I know some detectors give you hints, but to be right almost every time is scary...lol.
