    Welcome to hot and sunny Singapore, though it can be wet some days. Take your time to immerse yourself in the local culture, food, people and places etc. Though Singapore is small, there's always some thing to do like going to the beach, trekking, nature trails, biking, shopping, urban walks. Being a Singaporean myself, it's always refreshing to see my country through the eyes of foreigners.

    • @KylieandJustin

      Thank you so much! We are so excited to be here🎉 We are amazed how much much excitement is packed onto this tiny island! There is something around every corner and we cannot wait to explore it all!:) We would love any recommendations you have for things to do/eat/see.

    • @rrhhggtt
      @rrhhggtt Před 3 lety

      Don't wanna squeeze everything here :P
      We are nature lovers, these are some of the walks/trails that you can explore:
      1) start off with Botanical Gardens - due to Covid, it is not as crowded as before, and to avoid the heat, go there in the early weekday mornings
      2) gradually build up with other close to urban trails like Henderson Waves, Mount Faber trail, Hort Park, Kent Ridge - this connected trail will take half a day
      3) level up by exploring trails up north, like MacRitchie, Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve, Bukit Timah Hill, Chestnut Park
      4) if you prefer cycling, you can literally spend a day traversing the Park Connector Network or PCN - a round-the-island is possible too

    • @rrhhggtt
      @rrhhggtt Před 3 lety

      For more casual sight-seeing, you can check out Haji Lane, Chinatown, Katong/Joo Chiat, Little India, Tiong Bahru. If you love cafe-hopping, do check out Tiong Bahru - there's a lot of CZcamsrs (Georgia Caney) who did a take of the cafes, food in Tiong Bahru. If the humidity is unbearable for you, do wear light colored and light weight clothings, put a sunblock, and even a handy anti-UV umbrella. A brolly is also useful for the unexpected downpour sometimes.

    Thank you for the informative video! :) Did you have to take a PCR Covid test prior to boarding in Los Angeles? I think Singapore Airlines requires a negative test within 72 of boarding, but I'm worried the results might take longer than that to come out. Also, not all covid test centers give you a physical copy/certificate of the test results. Did you need to show them a physical certificate or can it be on your phone? Thank you so much!!

      I did not have to take a PCR test. The only Covid test I took was on my 9th day of quarantine at the hotel!:) However, they might have changed that now. Jet lag was not bad at all! I had a night flight which worked out perfectly. I slept most of the plane ride since it was dark outside then when I landed in Singapore it was morning. Within 3-4 days I was completely adjusted to the time schedule but tried really hard to not nap during the day in order to forge my body to adjust. Good luck on your trip!:D

    Hello Kylie
    I will be moving to Singapore on the 10th October (this week aaahhhh) with my husband and twin 2 year olds! Can I ask you a few quick questions?
    Can you only order take out food is it possible to order supermarket delivery to the hotel? Like fresh fruit my son loves bananas and they basically snack all day with rice cakes and hummus and cucumbers and cheese and yoghurts!
    I saw you had the hotel tea and coffee sachets would you recommend I bring my own coffee and tea? Did you have a kettle? Did they provide fresh milk?
    Did your room have a fridge?
    Did the hotel provide bottled water? Or is the water from the sink safe!
    Was there anything you thought while in the hotel oh I wish I had packed that
    Any guidance all would be appreciated hope your settling in well!
    Best
    Jean

    • @KylieandJustin
      @KylieandJustin  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Jeanie! Congrats on your move. So exciting and welcome to Singapore!
      1. Use the Food Panda to order fresh food as well as food from restaurants. Redmart and Fair Price are two supermarkets who also deliver!
      2. The hotel instant coffee was fine with me. I did have a kettle but no coffee machine. So instant coffee and tea worked. The hotel did not provide fresh milk, but I ordered some on Food Panda.
      3. My room did have a fridge but no way to heat anything back up. My husband also had a fridge but no stove or microwave as well. We were at two different hotels since we came over at different times.
      4. The hotel did not provide me with bottled water so I used Food Panda to have a ton delivered and just kept them in the fridge. The sink water is okay to drink though!
      Things to pack: plug converters, plastic/silverware (many places forgot to deliver some when I ordered food so I wish I would have at least had an extra fork), large toiletries (the hotel never brought me more, however, I am sure they would have if I would have requested it), some kind of candle or fragrance spray, workout resistance bands or a jump rope, possibly extra sheets (I spent a lot of time just sitting in the bed so I felt like it got dirty quickly and they only brought me one change of sheets), extra towels (I only got a new one every three days), games, books, and snacks. There is not much that you can't have delivered either through Food Panda, Redmart, Fair Price, or Amazon so do not stress too much! My hotel was extremely accommodating and I found the stay to be much easier than expected. If you need anything else, just let me know!:D
