Dr Jos Vanrenterghem (Lecturer in Biomechanics of Posture and Balance, School of Sport and Exercise Sciences): Why will I fall sooner with age?
Jos moved to Liverpool in 2004 to conduct research focusing on postural control related issues, setting up activities in the newly established Movement Function Research Laboratory at LJMU. He is a member of the International Society for Biomechanics (ISB), the International Society for Posture and Gait Research (ISPGR), and the British Association for Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). His talk will present new insights on the role of postural responses and their neuromuscular drivers in the risk of falling in the elderly. This is following his 2011 LJMU Early Career Grant which allowed him to exchange skills in Biomechanics at Neuroscience Research Australia.
