One of my Favorite aircraft!! Love this thing!!❤️❤️❤️
That sound of the STUKA!!!
It's probably too late by now
Every part that is saved is extremely important!
Fantastic brilliant stuff thanks
I`d like to put this little beauty in my aquarium.
Impressionnant !!
Awesome german technology!
very rare find since there are no Stukas left in the world, as far as I know
Hi Jasper, there are two intact airframes on display. One is in England, the other is hanging from the ceiling at the Muesum of Science and Industry in Chicago Illinois (USA). A third is being restored to airworthy status in Evert Washington. Like the one in Chicago, it is an early model and is literaly being constructed from newly made parts, as the original airframe was too severly damaged. The museum in Chicago allowed the Evert crew to throughly analyze their example after lowering it to the floor. The last video I saw of the buid is two years old, but I have not heard if they've flown it, or even run the engine in the airframe. Things may have come to a halt due to the pandemic, but they should be making good progress now and it may soon be flying. By soon, it could be two moths to two years or more.
Thnx for the explanation. Never knew this. I hope to see one flying someday.
@@RepsajSpook If you include the two intact examples and wreckage/parts, there are the remains of eight Stukas in the entire world. Very little left for a viable project except for Paul Allen's example that is/was being restored to fly one day. The project is stopped for now.
@@FiveCentsPlease why is it stopped ? Such a shame !
@@964cuplove Paul Allen passed away and he had arranged for his museum to be funded from his estate. However his estate and finances were restructured after his death and several museums were closed, at least for now. Maybe they will reopen.
Geil
My neighbors father flew Stukas .On the eastern front , of course.
....but of course !
Was this airframe recovered to be used in the Paul Allen recreation?
+ fw1421 No, Allen's museum used wreckage from two Stukas removed from Russia. Allen's museum used some bits but they have basically built a brand new Stuka.
Airframe seems basically intact did they search for the engine or remains there of?
+ George Distel I think the engine was snagged by fishing nets at some point.
I"m assuming (dangerous, I know) that this a/c was ditched. If that's the case, I would guess there would be a good chance the engine was ripped off in the ditching and could be quite a ways from the rest of the airframe (the engine would sink straight down, whereas the airframe would "glide" so-to-speak down to the bottom. The Ju-87 was a TERRIBLE a/c to ditch in due to the fixed landing gear and the big radiator scoop up front under the engine. Both would tend to slam the front end into the water, which, in addition to not doing the crew any favors, could also torque the engine right off its' mounts.
@@k1ross This aircraft is thought to be an Italian Ju-87R-2 of the Regia Aeronautica 239th Squadriglia, 97 Gruppo Bombardamento that attacked Yugoslav ships on 12-April-1941. From the three aircraft attack, two were shot down with one crew KIA.
Here you can see the engine. czcams.com/video/4cJum3-UcKE/video.html
Did you take the siren off?
STUKAS … STUKAS … STUKAS !
Was this recovered?
Rare bird in any condition
+ Sion Russell No it was not recovered. It is in Croatian territorial waters and it's their property. There were initial discussions to raise it but later changed to leave it. However, I think there may be a local aviation group expressing interest again, although resources are limited in Croatia.
Greatgranpa of the A10/SU23.
Armed with 37mm in the Hands of a competent Pilot.. . Armor. 😭
Do a " Will it run " !
Plenty in the Thames and English Channel.
why is the landing gear down and half of the plane stripped?
Stukas didn’t have retractable landing gear and I imagine the plane is stripped because it crashed into the ocean.
@@imperialinquisition6006 oh shit yeah forgot lol cheers
In case of ditching, the fixed gear could be jettisoned.
Wow! Where is this...?
In Croatia.
Where ein Croatia?
Where is It!?
+ Hit00r 1982 It is in Croatian waters. It is an Italian Stuka that was shot down in 1941 while attacking ships.
Where in Croatia?
Aircraft prefered tho "As" germany Hans Hurich Huddel the major pilot of the second world war!
When you find an aircraft like this on the ocean floor make sure to leave there and let is rust into the ground. Dont bring it up and do something with it.
+ Roger Hockemier It is in Croatian waters and there were discussions on raising it, then changed to leaving it. There might be a local group trying to recover it, though resources in Croatia are limited. There also could be local heritage/preservation laws preventing an outside investor from exporting it. With all of the salt it would just be a template and an ID for a new-build aircraft.
@@FiveCentsPlease They brought up a Messerschmidt 109 in worse condition than this and it is being restored , And yes will cost millions but the money can be raised, Even if they brought it up and just put it on static display inside a museum its better then rust dust laying on the bottom of the ocean and there will be nothing left to even see anymore
@@madmanmechanic8847 Paul Allen's Bf-109E was just a pair of wings pull out of the beach sand in France and it is beautiful. Allen also put his money behind the first flyable Stuka restoration, although it is not finished yet. The work was divided among multiple companies around the world and a Hungarian engineering company did the airframe research and construction and has basically built a brand-new Stuka. Allen's Stuka is an R-4 model and the one in Croatia is an R-2. So Paul Allen's project has overcome many of the difficult engineering obstacles and has laid a solid foundation for more Stuka restorations in the future, at least for the R model. If someone was able to obtain the wreck from Croatia then the rebuild would be much easier provided the rare parts can be remade and a good engine can be sourced.
@@FiveCentsPlease Wow that is bad ass you and I are on the same page. I watched a video on some people that are restoring a 109 and surprising they sourced some structure parts for the aircraft from Germany , They are making brand new parts for the Messerschmidt I was blown away. I wish somebody would bring this up and at least store it away to raise the funds to get it flying again , I love old Aircraft it really gets my blood pumping please please somebody bring her up! Save it
The poor man's Stuka. Buy a Cessna 188. Remove spray gear. Paint entire airplane in Stuka camouflage. Bingo!
Wow, now that you mention it I see the resemblance. 🙂
