  • Amazon has created a new device called AmazonOne, which allows users to pay using their palm. It’s terrifying, but many people online are eager for this system to be rolled out across stores in the United States.

    Amazon already completely locked some guy out of his smart house because one Amazon driver misunderstood his ring doorbell's auto answer. The driver claimed it said something racist, when it was just something like, "Hello, can I help you?"
    This guy set everything in his house to connect to his Alexa account, so he couldn't even turn his lights on. It took a week of appeals to fix the problem.
    Now we are supposed to add access to our money..... I don't think so.

      @jakinboaz8558 Před rokem +11

      @chelsealott7708 Your sympathies are in the right place, but the idea that it’s God’s plan for you to “leave here and go to heaven” is a real misunderstanding of what Scripture says. Read 1 Corinthians 15. At the last day God will raise us from the dead and Christ will return to earth to reign - and we shall meet Him in the air to welcome Him like a triumphal parade (this is the 2 Thessalonians verse that was misunderstood by John Nelson Darby about 200 years ago, leading him to invent rapture theology).
      Why do I bring all this up here? Because our understanding of God’s plan influences the mission of the Church and our mindset about the world around us. Your comment (like many others; it’s not your fault!) reveals a sort of “I just want to leave” escapism that was never God’s plan for us. Instead He left the Church here to proclaim His coming Kingdom, share how people can join said Kingdom (the Cross), heal the sick, promote justice, and create beauty.

    "your palm is unique, and can't be lost or misplaced"... this line alone tells me exactly who their primary target for "convenience" is and who will be exploited - if you're in a wealthy secure and high class area, it's a benefit; if you're in a poor, dangerous or low class area, which are most areas, you palms can be very well misplaced and lost, and once you lose both and there is no alternative transaction anymore - you're basically destitute and penniless even if your bank account has 10 digits... Maybe year one or year ten won't be as bad, but for the people who only ever lived in that system, those who wish to abuse it will find ways to do so anyway... You could write an entire series of books with the implications of this being a thing and going sideways eventually. In fact, I'm pretty sure some variation of that has already been novelized...

    I can clear up how that Whole Foods store knows exactly what is in the cart. Every single shelf in that store has invisible barrier scanners. If you reach inside that barrier, you break that plain and it knows (scans?) that you reached in there, it also knows if you took an item off the shelf or not, and if so, which specific item. You don't see it or hear it, but it essentially scans the item as it passes through that barrier. If you put it in your kart and walk around a bit and then decide against buying it, you put it back, it knows that too, cause it scans it again and is smart enough to know an item has been put back and your bill drops by however much that item would have cost. I don't know this for sure, but I imagine each and every shelf also has scales to help accurately determine which items are removed or replaced. It's all very weird and very creepy for sure, and technologically, it's fascinating, but it's still terrifying.
    The main take away everyone should get from this is, the book of Revelation. If you have not read it yet, GO read it right now, and if you don't understand it or have questions, seek out someone who can help, may it be in person or online. All of this was foretold about 2 thousand years ago in the book of Revelation. "In the last days, the Beast will be worshipped as the Christ, and only those who have the Mark of the Beast will be able to buy or sell." (I'm sort of paraphrasing there, I don't have it completely memorized but that is the truth of it.) The technology is here, the rest of it won't be far behind.

    It's so nice for Chip Girl to give any potential burglars the location of the key to everything she owns.
    They will only need a quick stop at the knife block in her kitchen...

    This cart thing at Whole Foods was something GE was working on decades ago. I remember the commercial where they were working on a scan that goes off the RFIDs associated with the boxes. I thought it was never going to happen, kinda cool to see actually. The palm thing is a never gonna happen thing for me, but the cart is actually a logical next step for RFID usage.

      I had that kinda cart system as a University project a few years ago before it was starting to be implemented. It seemed completely pointless then and still does now.

      this comment makes way too much sense for this comment section. Brett will rave about convenience w express VPN and then is terrified of convenience at the palm reader. She seems more and more pointless each video.

      she thinks it will save milliseconds. w comments like this from brett, you can really tell that she was homeschooled and wanting to latch on to every grifter she can
